EC Tashi visits Drass Sub Division

Takes assessment of damages caused due to recent untimely snowfall

KARGIL, OCTOBER, 27, 2021: On the directions of the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan, Executive Councillor for Tourism and Rural Development Er Phunsok Tashi today took stock of the damages caused in the aftermath of the recent snowfall at various villages of Drass Sub Division.

The EC also inquired about the status of various ongoing works in the sub division being undertaken by the Rural Development Department and Kargil Development Authority.

SDM Drass Anwar Ali, Assistant Director Tourism Aga Syed Toha, Councilor Drass and Former Executive Councilor Mubarak Shah Nagvi, Councilor Bhimbat Aga Syed Muhammad Shah, Executive Engineer REW Gulzar Munshi, Executive Engineer KDA Sajjad Hussain Wazir, BDC Chairperson Najmah Banoo, BDO Drass besides other concerned officers accompanied the EC during the tour.

While taking the assessment of the damages caused due to recent snowfall, EC Tashi visited Kharbu, Shimsha, Thasgam, Jasgund, Throngos, Frenu, Bhimbhat, Drass Town, Pandrass and adjoining villages where he interacted with various public delegations.

While interacting with the delegations, the EC was informed that due to the recent untimely snowfall tree plantations, fruit trees, water supply schemes at few villages, electricity and link roads have suffered severe damages.

EC Tashi assured that the survey team will assess all the damages and due compensation will be provided to the affected people under the norms of Disaster Management.

The EC directed the concerned officers to reconnect the electric lines at the earliest possibility and also redress the issues related to water supply and road connectivity.

Meanwhile, EC Tashi also inspected various ongoing works of the Rural Development Department including the Skill Development Centre at Chanigund at the cost of Rs 43 lacs, Community Facilitation Centre and Panchayat Ghar at a cost of Rs 36 lacs at Kharboo, Marriage Hall and Panchayat Ghar at the cost of Rs 35 lacs each and CFC at the cost of Rs 30 lacs at Shimsha, Library at Frenu, Link Road from Dandal to Bhimbhat and Labour Sarai at Lakthang.

At BDO Office Bhimbhat, the EC held a meeting wherein he took stock of various development works and schemes  undergoing in the subdivision. He directed to continue the tiling works in the block under SDP.

EC Phunsok Tashi also inspected various works of KDA including the construction of Guest House at Drass War Memorial, KDA Cafeteria at Lakthang and other related structures.

The EC Tourism also interacted with various public delegations at Dak Bangalow Drass and assured that all genuine demands will be considered for suitable follow up measures in a timely manner.
