EC Syed Abbas takes stock of status of hydro, solar, wind projects under KREDA

KARGIL, JUNE 17, 2021: Executive Councilor for Works Aga Syed Abass Razvi today chaired a meeting to take stock of the status of various ongoing and proposed Small Hydro Projects (SHPs), solar and wind energy projects by Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA).

Councilor Parkachik, Haji Ghulam Muhammad, Project Director/CEO, KREDA Kacho Ahmad Khan, Assistant Executive Engineer KREDA Ghulam Ali, Project Manager IMP Powers Limited Mehboob Ali Khan besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.

During the course of the meeting, the Executive Councilor Works was informed that the commissioned SHPs are supplying uninterrupted power supply particularly the 2 small hydro electric power projects at Sangrah (1.5 MW) and Chilung(1 MW) which are supplying power and integrated with the  grid as well.

The meeting was further informed that 1.5 MW SHP Biaras is running under standalone mode, and 2 more projects at  Matayen  and Khandi are also about to get completed while the Matayen SHP is also ready for commissioning.

Pertaining to the status of the SHP projects executed in Zanskar, EC Syed Abbas was informed that works on both the small hydro projects Raru and Zunkul has been started, and are expected to get completed before the end of October, 2021.

Meanwhile, EC Syed Abbas Razvi also reviewed the progress of submitted proposals of SHPs under various schemes.

The EC Works was informed that 5 projects have been submitted under the SDP including  Sapee Stage-I, Shangshee, Umbulung, Parkachik Stage-I, Batra Camp  Drass, Tangole and Saksit Shakar Chiktan, adding that the DPRs of all these projects have been  submitted to MNRE, GOI and the UT Administration Ladakh.

The meeting was further informed that considering the availability of shadow free space and proximity to interconnection substation, a 5MW Solar PV Plant is proposed to be set up at Khangral besides Shashithang site has good potential for wind projects of 30-40 MW.

EC Syed Abbas was informed that KREDA has been proposing to keep these projects under the future SDP of the MNRE, Government of India, adding it has also proposed an amount of Rs 10 crores for initial phase development of these projects.

The EC Works was also informed that pertaining to the installation of solar water lifting pumps, KREDA has submitted DPRs for more than 35 sites of drought prone villages of Kargil to the UT Administration Ladakh on the directions of the CEC, LAHDC Kargil and the Deputy Commissioner Kargil.
