EC Syed Abbas Razvi flags off refuse compactor vehicles under SDP
KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 04, 2021: Executive Councillor for Works Aga Syed Abbas Razvi flagged off 2 refuse compactor vehicles of Municipal Committee (MC) Kargil at a function held at MC Garages here today.
The refuse compactor vehicles have been procured at a cost of Rs 70 lacs under the Special Development Package (SDP).
Director Housing and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) Ladakh Dr Zahida Banoo, Councilor Town Haji Muhammad Abbas, Vice President MC Kargil Gulzar Hussain, Executive Officer MC Kargil Shafaqat Ali Khan, Ward Members, other concerned officers of department besides the Green Workers of MC were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, EC Syed Abbas Razvi said that the refuse compactor vehicles will enhance the working capacity of the department, and will also prove beneficial in maintaining cleanliness of Kargil Town.
EC Syed Abbas also hailed the efforts of the Green Workers for their hard work and commitment in keeping Kargil clean and green.
Councilor Town Haji Muhammad Abbas who also spoke on the occasion said that the LAHDC Kargil has always remained on the forefront in solving waste related issues of Kargil Town, adding he expressed gratitude to CEC Kargil for allocating funds to the tune of Rs 70 lacs for repairing of street lights in the town. He also thanked the Director ULB Ladakh for allocating funds under SDP to resolve the issue of installation of street lights.
On the occasion Executive Officer MC Shafaqat Ali Khan said that the refuse compactor vans will be beneficial in the dumping of hard waste and will also ease the work of Green Workers besides the fuel consumption will also get minimal.
Pertinently, the advantage of the refuse compactor vehicle is that the load carrying capacity will be enhanced by 60 percent and cost will come down by 40 percent without leakages. Closed containers are very useful in cities and towns as garbage falling on the roads will come down to zero.
