EC Punchok Tashi expresses gratitude to UT Admininstration Ladakh, LAHDC Kargil on signing of MoU for establishing of 5 MW Solar Power Project at Zanskar by CESL

KARGIL JUNE 05, 2021: Executive Councilor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Er Punchok Tashi on behalf of the people of Zanskar today conveyed gratitude to the LG Ladakh Radha Krishna Mathur, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor,LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan, Advisor to LG Ladakh Umang Narula, Secretary Power Ladakh Ravinder Kumar,  Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhdeve and CEO Convergence Energy Service Limited (CESL) Mahua Acharya for virtual signing of MoU for establishing of 5 MW Solar Power Plant in Zanskar.

The EC stated that the establishment of the solar power plant will be an important step towards green Ladakh and will also ensure round the year supplement of power supply in the Sub Division which has been one of the long pending demands of the people of Zanskar.

EC Tashi also hailed the several initiatives been taken by the UT Administration Ladakh, LAHDC Kargil and KREDA to establish renewable energy power sources in Zanskar. He said that there is huge potential of both solar and hydro energy in Zanskar and with the completion of transmission line, more and more hydro and solar power projects could be constructed.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude to the LG Ladakh R K Mathur and Secretary Power Ravinder Kumar for fulfilling their committment for setting up of this solar power plant during their visit to Zanskar last year, the EC Zanskar Affairs said that the LAHDC, Kargil has already proposed suitable land for the solar power plant at Karsha/Zangla.

EC Tashi further said that the people of Zanskar shall be highly indebted to the UT Administration and the LAHDC Kargil for this initiative.
