JAMMU, OCTOBER 20, 2021: Apni Party Provincial Secretary Dr Rohit Gupta has thanked the Govt of Jammu and Kashmir for giving rights to Mahajans, Khatris, Sikhs for sale and purchase of Agriculture Land.
Terming the decision as a land mark, Gupta said that these communities were excluded from purchasing the agricultural land which was discrimination with the people of these communities.
“The Constitution of India grants equal rights to all irrespective of their caste, creed or religion. However, barring the Mahajans, Khatries, and Sikhs from buying agricultural land was an injustice which now has been corrected by the J&K Govt with the decision which was taken recently,” he added.
He further said that the Govt is expected to take welfare steps and this decision was taken after the Apni Party repeatedly raised this issue.
Few weeks back, he said, he had raised this issue aggressively and now the decision of the Govt proves that the demands and grievances of the people are looked into.
“The prior rules had deprived the communities even as they were farmers by professions through their castes were Mahajan or Khatries and majority of them were Sikhs,” he said.
He hoped that the marginalized section of the society will be given voice by the Govt and their concerns would also be redressed.
