Dogri Play ‘Baba Jittmal’ Enthralls Audience at Mahaostav 2025 in Jammu.
Written by Dr. Gian Singh and directed by noted theatre personality Ravinder Sharma, Baba Jittmal narrates the inspiring story of a forgotten saint and farmer from the Duggar region
Jammu, December 22. 2025:The acclaimed Dogri play “Baba Jittmal” was successfully staged during Mahaostav 2025, organised by LEAD – LJK Economic Growth and Development Dialogue, at the GGM Science College Ground, Jammu. As part of the cultural celebrations, Sanskar Bharti Jammu invited The Reflection Group to present their most successful production, Baba Jittmal, which received an overwhelming response from the audience.
Written by Dr. Gian Singh and directed by noted theatre personality Ravinder Sharma, Baba Jittmal narrates the inspiring story of a forgotten saint and farmer from the Duggar region. The play beautifully reflects the cultural ethos of Jammu, highlighting values of compassion, simplicity, social harmony and spiritual resilience. The audience warmly appreciated the engaging narrative, rooted performances, and strong emotional connect of the production.
A large ensemble of actors brought the story to life, including Rohan Sharma, Ravinder Sharma, Ajay Tamang, Akash Katoch, Manik Sharma, Nitesh Kumar, Param Sagar, Kandrav Sharma, Ujbal, Neeraj, Keshav Singh, Raguvansh, Nitin, Vrinda Gujral, Drishty Sharma, Vishnupriya, Monika Thapa, Vaishnavi Sharma and Pooravi Sharma, whose collective performances added depth and authenticity to the play.
The production was aesthetically designed and directed by Ravinder Sharma. The evocative music was composed by Surinder Manhas and technically handled by Gorav Singh Manhas, adding emotional strength to the narrative. Choreography by Rohit Bains, makeup by Shammi Damir, and costumes designed by Pooja Sharma further enhanced the visual appeal of the performance. The songs of the play were soulfully rendered by Late Sh. Surinder Manhas and Nandni Kapoor. Rohan Sharma also contributed as the Assistant Director. Dr. Kuldeep Raina, coordinated the play while Ajay Bharti ancrod the show.
The staging of Baba Jittmal at Mahaostav 2025 stood as a powerful reminder of Jammu’s rich folk-spiritual heritage and reaffirmed theatre’s role in preserving regional culture and collective memory.
