DLSA Kargil celebrates World Environment Day, 2021

KARGIL, JUNE 05, 2021: The District Legal Service Authority (DLSA), Kargil under the chairmanship of the Chairman DLSA and Principal District and Sessions Judge Kargil Muhammad Rafiq Chak observed World Environment Day, 2021 in collaboration with the Forest Department Kargil here today.

On the occasion, a plantation drive was carried out where in different kinds of saplings were planted at the Rgyal Khatoon Forest Park Biamathang Kargil.

Chairman DLSA Kargil Muhammad Rafiq Chak inaugurated the plantation drive by planting a sapling.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Kargil Tsewang Phontsog, Divisional Forest Officer Kargil Sajid Sultan, Secretary DLSA Kargil and Munsif Sankoo Muneer Ahmed Mir, President Bar Association Kargil Advocate Khadim Hussain also planted saplings on the occasion.

The staff members of District Court Kargil and officials of the Forest Department Kargil also planted different kinds of saplings of the trees like Weeping/Drooping Willow (Salix Babylonia), Kail (Pinus Wallichina) and Salix Wilow (Salix Alba).

While speaking to the media on the occasion, the Chairman DLSA Muhammad Rafiq Chak observed that plantation/afforestation is important and relevant these days due to environmental pollution and global warming. He further observed that topography of the area like Kargil where we have fewer plantation demands more plantations of trees, adding he said that green areas work as lungs in a particular area and keep the oxygen levels intact besides plantation plays a vital role in the economy of the country.

The Divisional Forest Officer Kargil Sajid Sultan also spoke to the media and threw light upon the importance of the day in creating awareness among common masses about importance of forests in particular and plantation in general.

The DFO also talked about the vision of the Forest Department with respect to the protection and expansion of the forest areas in Kargil. He further talked about the role of Judiciary in strengthening and empowering the Forest Department and protection of forest land and areas.

Meanwhile, DLSA Kargil through PLV Tsewang Lamo observed the World Environment Day by planting saplings of willow in Batalik (Aryan Valley).
