KARGIL MAY 29, 2021: As a part of the measures underway to provide free ration to the beneficiaries of PHH and AAY categories under Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalayan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), District Administration Kargil has issued 4209 quintals 75 kgs of free rice and 1384 quintals 43 kgs free wheat (atta) till date at more than 120 sale centres in the district for the month of May and June, 2021.
A total of 88215 beneficiaries belonging to the PHH and AAY in the district are being covered under the PMGKAY scheme as a part of the free ration distribution to the poor and needy souls.
Starting from 11th May, 2021, 7 kilograms free rice and 2 kilograms and 800 grams of free wheat (atta) have been distributed among more than 60139 beneficiaries so far, out of the 88215 beneficiaries being covered under the scheme, for which a total of 6175 quintals and 4 kgs of rice and 2646 quintals and 46 kgs of wheat (atta) have been allocated for the district.
Pertinently, Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalayan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) is a central government scheme launched during the lockdown period last year amid COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve has directed the FCS&CA Department to take all required steps to ensure that the food grains reach to the PHH and AAY beneficiaries in every corner of the district especially during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
