Delegation of Fire and Emergency Services Aspirants call on AAP Kashmir Incharge/ Cabinet Minister Delhi Government Imran Hussain
New Delhi, September 07, 2023: A delegation of J&K Fire and Emergency Services aspirants led by Nissar Ahmad Nengroo met Kashmir Incharge AAP and Cabinet Minister Imran Hussain at his residence in New Delhi here today and sought his intervention. In meeting, Muktesh Yogi and Muddasir Hassan, AAP Youth leaders from J&K were also present.
The delegation pleaded for release of the committee report which was set up by LG Manoj Sinha six months back in relation to investigation of the matter at hand in interest of the impacted young Aspirants. The aspirants have been staging protests continuously, demanding justice in the recruitment process.
As per the statement, Aspirants added, “Thousands of aspirants had applied for 870 posts of firemen and firemen drivers following a 2013 advertisement. As many as 14,000 were shortlisted after a physical standard test followed by a written examination by the recruitment board. However, interviews could not be held in 2014 due to floods and the recruitment process was cancelled in 2017 on the directions of then chief minister. The candidates approached the high court which directed the government to hold the recruitment process afresh. In 2018, a physical test of 14,000 aspirants was conducted and 7,000 of them passed and appeared for the written examination. It was again cancelled on court directions.”
“It is very unfortunate that even after nine months of distress and continuous struggle, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has not made public the report of the three-member panel headed by the additional chief secretary. The committee was formed in December last year. We demand that the report be made public. We have been deliberately pushed out of the selection list. We want the culprits to be punished and the recruitment list to be scrapped,” they said, according to the statement.
After a patient hearing to the matter, Imran Hussain told the aspirants that the party leaders has been highlighting the issue at all appropriate forums and will continue to do so. He also assured that he will write to LG Manoj Sinha and seek redressal for their genuine demands.
