DC Kargil reviews preparations for International Yoga Day, 2021
KARGIL, JUNE 17, 2021: In order to review the necessary preparations for the celebration of International Day of Yoga (IDY), 2021 in the district, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve held a meeting of the concerned officers here today.
Programme Head, All India Radio (AIR) Kargil Sonam Lotus, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, Chief Education Planning Officer Haji Muhammad Amin, Block Medical Officer Kargil Dr Fatima Nissa, Assistant Director Information Muhammad Ali Tak, District Coordinator Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Kargil Jigmet Spaldon besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
During the course of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that the theme for this year’s International Yoga Day on June 21 is “Be With Yoga Be At Home.”
DC Santosh Sukhadeve said that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation, the International Day of Yoga will be observed at home with proper COVID-19 SOPs and there will be no gatherings.
Meanwhile, the concerned officers informed the Deputy Commissioner about various yoga activities proposed during the International Day of Yoga which would include the practice of Yoga Asanas at the District headquarters as well as the Sub Divisional and Tehsil headquarters by the members of the LAHDC Kargil, senior officers and other officers of the District Administration, Physical Education Instructors of the Youth Services and Sports Department, volunteers of NYK and the other concerned.
The DC instructed officers concerned to invite prominent citizens of the district and personalities from various backgrounds like elected representatives, bureaucrats, educationists and sports persons to join the celebration of yoga day with family members at their homes.
DC Santosh Sukhadeve also asked the Programme Head AIR Kargil and AD Information to spread awareness about importance and health benefits if yoga to the general public. He also directed the officers of NYK and Youth Services and Sports for organizing the event in various blocks of the district by trained yoga instructors and volunteers.
The DC also said that the Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Tehsildars would coordinate the event in their respective jurisdictions.
As regards to the holding of video yoga contest during the yoga day celebrations for school children, the DC instructed the Chief Education Officer, AD Information and District Coordinator NYK Kargil to spread advance information to the heads of schools and through the AIR Kargil, print, electronic and social media.
It was decided during the meeting that the top 3 best video winners will be felicitated with certificates and prizes, and the interested school children can send their video entries on the Whats App Number 9469324210 by or before 8:00 AM on 21st June, 2021 during the International Day of Yoga.
Meanwhile, the DC also asked the Information Department Kargil and the Press Club Kargil to ensure wide coverage and publicity of the Yoga Day activities through print, electronic and social media. He further stressed all concerned officers to work in close coordination to make the activities of the International Day of Yoga 2021 successful.
