COVID-19: J&K reports two deaths, 161 positive cases

32nd case of Mucormycosis confirmed, case tally at 319,152, death toll mounts to 4,360, active cases decrease to 2,236, recovery rate at 97.94 percent

Srinagar, July 14, 2021 : The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Wednesday witnessed two deaths due to Covid-19 while as 161 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 2,236

With two more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached to 4,360 and 161 fresh positive cases reported on Wednesday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 319,152.

Of the exact number of 319,152 cases, 198,215 are from Kashmir division and 120,937 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 161 new cases, 123 belong to Kashmir division while as 38 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 198,215 including 194,673 recoveries and 2,231 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 120,937 including 117,883 recoveries and 2,129 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2,236 including 1,311 from Kashmir division and 925 from Jammu division.

With 358 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 312,556 which is 97.94 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 42 from Srinagar, 23 from Baramulla, 08 from Budgam, 10 from Pulwama, 07 from Kupwara, 04 from Anantnag, 13 from Bandipora, 09 from Ganderbal, 07 from Kulgam and 00 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 38 from Jammu division include 17 from Jammu, 03 from Udhampur, 03 from Rajouri, 04 from Doda, 01 from Kathua, 00 from Samba, 03 from Kishtwar, 05 from Poonch, 01 from Ramban and 01 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Meanwhile, authorities on Wednesday said that one fresh case of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and the tally reached 32.

Out of two deaths reported today, one died at GMC Jammu and one died at GMC Rajouri.

As per officials figures, 70,779 positive cases including 832 deaths and 69,461 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,447 including 280 deaths and 23,008 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,760 including 22,457 recoveries and 204 deaths are from Budgam, 15,057 including 14,774 recoveries and 193 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,968 including 165 deaths and 13,713 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,256 including 15,939 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,410 cases including 9,239 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,770 including 9,568 recoveries and 77 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,197 including 11,009 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,571 including 5,505 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 52,594 including 51,274 recoveries and 1,138 deaths are from Jammu district, 11,244 including 11,065  recoveries and 133 deaths are from Udhampur, 10,814 including 10,520 recoveries and 223 deaths are from Rajouri, 7,082  including 6,772 recoveries and 121 deaths are from Doda, 9,245 including 9,076 recoveries and 149 deaths are from Kathua, 7,102 including 6,945 recoveries and 119 deaths are from Samba, 4,568 including 4,468 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Kishtwar, 6,197 including 6,011 recoveries and 94 deaths are from Poonch, 5,919 including 5,798 recoveries and 66 deaths are from Ramban and 6,172 including 5,954 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 2,593,013 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 8,796 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 2,236 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 2,290,097 persons have completed the surveillance period and 287,524 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 10,786,504 samples are available. Out of 10,786,504 the number of samples tested negative stands at 10,467,352 while as 319,152 have tested positive, among them 2,236 persons are active, 312,556 persons have recovered and 4,360 persons have died—(KNO)
