COVID-19: J&K reports 4 deaths, 262 positive cases

31st case of mucormycosis confirmed in UT, case tally at 318,023, death toll mounts to 4,353, active cases decrease to 3,344, recovery rate at 97.58 percent

Srinagar, July 08, 2021: The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Thursday witnessed 04 deaths due to Covid-19 while 262 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 3,344.

With 04 more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached to 4,353 and 262 fresh positive cases reported on Thursday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 318,023

Of the exact number of 318,023 cases, 197,480 are from Kashmir division and 120,543 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 262 new cases, 142 belong to Kashmir division while as 120 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 197,480 including 193,399 recoveries and 2,228 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 120,543 including 116,927 recoveries and 2,125 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 3,344 including 1,853 from Kashmir division and 1,491 from Jammu division.

With 353 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 310,326 which is 97.58 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 53 from Srinagar, 22 from Baramulla, 05 from Budgam, 08 from Pulwama, 11 from Kupwara, 14 from Anantnag, 07 from Bandipora, 11 from Ganderbal, 11 from Kulgam and 00 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 120 from Jammu division include 25 from Jammu, 11 from Udhampur, 16 from Rajouri, 21 from Doda, 06 from Kathua, 03 from Samba, 03 from Kishtwar, 08 from Poonch, 10 from Ramban and 17 from Reasi,” officials disclosed

Meanwhile, authorities on Thursday said that one fresh case of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and the tally has reached to 31.

Out of 04 deaths reported today, 01 died in GMC Jammu, 02 in GMC Doda, one in SMHS Srinagar and 01 died in SKIMS Soura.

As per officials figures, 70,510 positive cases including 831 deaths and 69,028 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,368 including 280 deaths and 22,855 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,703 including 22,311 recoveries and 204 deaths are from Budgam, 14,995  including 14,671 recoveries and 193 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,913 including 165 deaths and 13,585 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,205 including 15,905 recoveries and 204 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,364 cases including 9,182 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,705 including 9,463 recoveries and 77 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,154 including 10,902 recoveries and 116 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,563 including 5,497 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 52,500 including 50,936 recoveries and 1,137 deaths are from Jammu district, 11,224 including 11,027  recoveries and 132 deaths are from Udhampur, 10,781 including 10,463 recoveries and 222 deaths are from Rajouri, 6,991 including 6,645 recoveries and 121 deaths are from Doda, 9,226 including 9,062 recoveries and 149 deaths are from Kathua, 7,094 including 6,924 recoveries and 119 deaths are from Samba, 4,534 including 4,391 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Kishtwar, 6,158 including 5,929 recoveries and 94 deaths are from Poonch, 5,891 including 5,740 recoveries and 65 deaths are from Ramban and 6,144 including 5,819 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 2,516,553 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 7,572 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 3,344 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 2,239,474 persons have completed the surveillance period and 261,810 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 10,441,369 samples are available. Out of 10,441,369 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,012,346 while as 318,023 have tested positive, among them 3,344 persons are active, 310,326  persons have recovered and 4,353 persons have died—(KNO)
