COVID-19: J&K reports 25 deaths, 1,448 positive cases

Srinagar reports lowest positive cases since second wave; Case tally at 299,050,death toll mounts to 4,051, active cases increase to 28,423, recovery rate at 89.14 percent

Jammu, June 05, 2021: The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Saturday witnessed 25 deaths due to Covid-19 while as 1,448 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 28,423

With 25 more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached to 4,051 and 1,448 fresh positive cases reported on Saturday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 299,050.

Of the exact number of 299,050 cases, 184,499 are from Kashmir division and 114,551 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 1,448 new cases, 995 belong to Kashmir division while as 453 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 184,499 including 164,208 recoveries and 2,078 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 114,551 including 102,568 recoveries and 1,973 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 28,423 including 18,213 from Kashmir division and 10,210 from Jammu division.

With 2,615 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 266,576 which is 89.14 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 222 from Srinagar, 140 from Baramulla, 136 from Budgam, 107 from Pulwama, 125 from Kupwara,   95 from Anantnag, 43 from Bandipora, 54 from Ganderbal, 59 from Kulgam and 14 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 453 from Jammu division include 106 from Jammu, 28 from Udhampur, 80 from Rajouri, 51 from Doda, 39 from Kathua, 12 from Samba, 28 from Kishtwar, 59 from Poonch, 33  from Ramban and 18 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Out of 25 deaths reported today, 04 died in GMC Jammu, 04 in GMC Rajouri, 01 in GMC Doda, 01 in GMC Kathua, 01 in Amandeep Hosp Pathankot, 02 in Home/ Brought Dead, 02 in SMHS Sgr, 02 in SKIMS JVC Bemina, 01 in SKIMS Soura, 01 in JLNM Srinagar, 01 in SDH Sopore, 01 in CHC Tral, 03 in GMC Anantnag & 01 in Trauma Hosp Bijbehara.

As per officials figures, 66,641 positive cases including 796 deaths and 62,413 recoveries are from Srinagar, 22,055 including 262 deaths and 19,471 recoveries are from Baramulla, 21,012 including 19,191 recoveries and 190 deaths are from Budgam, 13,787 including 11,550 recoveries and 173 deaths are from Pulwama, 12,630 including 148 deaths and 11,118 recoveries are from Kupwara, 15,008 including 11,438 recoveries and 179 deaths are from Anantnag, 8,694 cases including 7,924 and 96 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,016  including 8,039 recoveries and 70 deaths are from Ganderbal, 10,247 including 8,775 recoveries and 108 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,409 including 4,289 recoveries and 56 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 51,486 including 46,205 recoveries and 1,094 deaths are from Jammu district, 10,804 including 1,0194 recoveries and 128 deaths are from Udhampur, 10,062 including 8,950 recoveries and 193 deaths are from Rajouri, 6,002 including 4,841 recoveries and 93 deaths are from Doda, 8,837 including 8,519 recoveries and 143 deaths are from Kathua, 6,868 including 5,825 recoveries and 114 deaths are from Samba, 4,130 including 3,841 recoveries and 35 deaths are from Kishtwar, 5,538 including 4,514 recoveries and 79 deaths are from Poonch, 5,340 including 4,497 recoveries and 56 deaths are from Ramban and 5,384 including 4,982 recoveries and 38 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 2,147,753 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 80,925 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 28,423 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,888,977 persons have completed surveillance period and 145,377 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 8,797,513 samples are available. Out of 8,797,513 the number of samples tested negative stands at 8,498,463 while as 299,050 have tested positive, among them 28,423   persons are active, 266,576 persons have recovered and 4,051 persons have died—(KNO)
