COVID-19: Deaths decline, case go up slightly in J&K: 11 deaths, 1184 positive cases

Srinagar reports 245 cases; Case tally at 302,651; death toll mounts to 4,101, active cases increase to 21,817, recovery rate at 91.43 percent

Jammu, June 08, 2021: The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Tuesday witnessed 11 deaths due to Covid-19 while as 1,184 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 21,817

With 11 more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached to 4,101 and 1,184 fresh positive cases reported on Tuesday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 302,651

Of the exact number of 302,651 cases, 187,053 are from Kashmir division and 115,598 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 1,184 new cases, 763 belong to Kashmir division while as 421 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 187,053 including 171,271 recoveries and 2,108 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 115,598 including 105,462 recoveries and 1,993 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 21,817 including 13,674 from Kashmir division and 8,143 from Jammu division.

With 2,880 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 276,733 which is 91.63 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 245 from Srinagar, 109 from Baramulla, 89 from Budgam, 84 from Pulwama, 60 from Kupwara, 55 from Anantnag, 37 from Bandipora, 29 from Ganderbal, 42 from Kulgam and 13 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 421 from Jammu division include 75 from Jammu, 27 from Udhampur, 40 from Rajouri, 74 from Doda, 35 from Kathua, 22  from Samba, 12 from Kishtwar, 64 from Poonch, 37 from Ramban and 35 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Out of 11 deaths reported today, 03 died in GMC Jammu, 02 in GMC Rajouri, 02 in SMHS Srinagar, 01 in JVC Bemina, 01 in JLNM Srinagar and 02 in GMC Anantnag.

As per officials figures, 67,311 positive cases including 801 deaths and 63,684 recoveries are from Srinagar, 22,344 including 268 deaths and 20,054 recoveries are from Baramulla, 21,349 including 19,776 recoveries and 195 deaths are from Budgam, 14,089 including 12,385 recoveries and 176 deaths are from Pulwama, 12,900 including 149 deaths and 11,638 recoveries are from Kupwara, 15,215 including 13,327 recoveries and 186 deaths are from Anantnag, 8,806 cases including 8,170 and 97 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,132  including 8,392 recoveries and 70 deaths are from Ganderbal, 10,457 including 9,124 recoveries and 109 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,450 including 4,721recoveries and 57 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 51,731 including 47,265 recoveries and 1,102 deaths are from Jammu district, 10,878 including 10,413 recoveries and 129 deaths are from Udhampur, 10,177 including 9,254 recoveries and 196 deaths are from Rajouri, 6,159 including 5,025 recoveries and 93 deaths are from Doda, 9,000 including 8,661 recoveries and 146 deaths are from Kathua, 6,924 including 6,421 recoveries and 115 deaths are from Samba, 4,169 including 3,924 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Kishtwar, 5,684 including 4,560 recoveries and 80 deaths are from Poonch, 5,426 including 4,737 recoveries and 57 deaths are from Ramban and 5,450 including 5,202 recoveries and 38 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 2,180,670 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 81,496 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 21,817 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,927,596 persons have completed the surveillance period and 145,660 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 8,932,882 samples are available. Out of 8,932,822 the number of samples tested negative stands at 8,630,231 while as 302,651 have tested positive, among them 23,524  persons are active, 276,733 persons have recovered and 4,101 persons have died—(KNO)
