Covid-19—67 fresh deaths, 4,169 positive cases
Srinagar reports 674 positive cases; Case tally at 260,057, death toll mounts to 3,422, active cases increase to 50,554, recovery rate at 79.24 percent
Srinagar, May 20, 2021: The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Thursday witnessed 67 deaths due to Covid-19 while 4,169 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 50,554.
With 67 more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached to 3,422 and 4,169 fresh positive cases reported on Thursday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 260,057. The big jump in the positive cases and the mortality continue to comes at a time when J&K is under tight grip of Carona Curfew since April 29.
Of the exact number of 260,057 cases, 159,347 are from Kashmir division and 100,710 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 4,169 new cases, 2,651’belong to Kashmir division while as 1,518 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 159,347 including 127,899 recoveries and 1,810 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 100,710 including 78,182 recoveries and 1,612 deaths.
The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 50,554:including 29,638 from Kashmir division and 20,916 from Jammu division.
With 4,042 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 206,081 which is 79.24 percent of the total cases.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 674 rom Srinagar, 333 from Baramulla, 393 from Budgam, 187 from Pulwama, 206 from Kupwara, 255 from Anantnag, 215 from Bandipora, 117 from Ganderbal, 206 from Kulgam and 65 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 1,518 from Jammu division include 499 from Jammu, 180 from Udhampur, 158 from Rajouri, 79 from Doda, 174 from Kathua, 117 from Samba, 55 from Kishtwar, 56 from Poonch, 124 from Ramban and 76 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
Out of 67 deaths reported today, 17 died in GMC Jammu, 07 in GMC Rajouri, 01 in GMC Kathua, 01 in GH Gandhi Nagar Jmu, 02 in GMC Doda, 02 in DH Udhampur, 02 in SMVDNH Katra, 01 in CHC Mendhar, 01 in CHC Bhaderwah, 07 in Home/ Brought Dead, 02 in SKIMS Soura, 03 SKIMS JVC Bemina, 04 in SMHS Sgr, 03 in DH Pulwama, 03 in DH Kulgam, 02 in SDH Kupwara, 02 in GMC Anantnag, 01 in LD Hosp, 02 in GMC Baramulla, 02 in CD Hosp Srinagar, 01 in CHC Pethkoot & 01 in JLNM Sgr.
As per officials figures, 60,540 positive cases including 715 deaths and 52,872 recoveries are from Srinagar, 19,056 including 230 deaths and 15,855 recoveries are from Baramulla, 17,656 including 13,119 recoveries and 161 deaths are from Budgam, 11,372 including 8,689 recoveries and 147 deaths are from Pulwama, 10,012 including 130 deaths and 8,042 recoveries are from Kupwara, 12,497 including 8,018 recoveries and 143 deaths are from Anantnag, 7,552 cases including 6,328 and 82 deaths are from Bandipora, 7,401 including 6,267 recoveries and 65 deaths are from Ganderbal, 8,469 including 4,992 recoveries and 88 deaths are from Kulgam and 4,792 including 3,717 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Shopian.
In Jammu division, 46,349 including 37,781 recoveries and 904 deaths are from Jammu district, 9,676 including 7,761 recoveries and 108 deaths are from Udhampur, 8,623 including 5,029 recoveries and 148 deaths are from Rajouri, 4,974 including 3,833 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Doda, 7,920 including 6,500 recoveries and 109 deaths are from Kathua, 6,072 including 3,705 recoveries and 93 deaths are from Samba, 3,692 including 3,205 recoveries and 27 deaths are from Kishtwar, 4,568 including 3,177 recoveries and 71 deaths are from Poonch, 4,109 including 3,135 recoveries and 45 deaths are from Ramban and 4,727 including 4,056 recoveries and 29 deaths are from Reasi.
As per the daily information bulletin 1,999,215 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 74,131 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 50,554 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 1,740,437 persons have completed surveillance period and 130,671 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 8,092,877 samples are available. Out of 8,092,877 the number of samples tested negative stands at 7,832,820 while as 260,057 have tested positive, among them 50,554 persons are active, 206,081 persons have recovered and 3,422 persons have died—(KNO)
