CEC Khan reviews status of progress of works of different departments under SDP, CAPEX, other schemes

Stresses for early completion of works, optimum utilization of funds

Kargil, May 24, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan reviewed the status of works of the Health, Education, Tourism, Social Welfare and ICDS departments under CAPEX budget, SDP, Languishing, State/UT plan and CSS at Council Secretariat here today.

Executive Councillor for Works Mubarak Shah Nagvi, Executive Councillor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Hassan Arman Mosavi, Executive Councillor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Chief Planning Officer Kargil, Chief Executive Officer Kargil Development Authority KDA, Programme Officer ICDS Kargil, Chief Medical Officer Kargil, Chief Education Officer, Executive Engineer R&B 2nd Division, Executive Engineer Suru Valley Division, Assistant Director Tourism, District Social Welfare Officer besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.

While addressing the meeting, the CEC Feroz Ahmad Khan directed that all district plan schemes should be vetted by the DC Office and LAHDC, Kargil, and only after proper deliberations, discussions and approval of the LAHDC, the proposals shall be sent to the UT Administration for approval. He further stressed that under SDP and State Sector, the LAHDC Kargil will do monitoring of all the projects.

CEC Khan also directed that adequate publicity of all Social Welfare schemes in the district should be done at the earliest by the District Social Welfare Officer, Kargil.

As regards to the ongoing works under health sector, the meeting was informed that 50% of the amount for construction works of the 300-bedded Hospital Kurbathang has been released, and work on the project is going on in full swing.

Further, other works proposed for strengthening of Health sector in district include the construction of Paramedical College, staff quarters, up gradation of PHC Panikhar, construction of administrative block of District Hospital Kargil (DHK) at Titichumik, reconstruction and renovation of TB Hospital Kargil , reconstruction of NT-PHC Batalik, PHC Shargole and NTPHC Pashkum, proposed medical sub centres, biomedical waste storage room besides purchase of 4×4 ambulances and two wheelers and mini truck for DHK and different PHCs, the meeting was informed.

As regards to the status of progress on the proposal of Paramedical College, the CEC was informed that DPR in this regard will be submitted in a week’s time.

While regard to the status of works undergoing in Education Sector, CEC Khan was informed that to provide ICT laboratories at every school under Samagra Shiksha, schemes under SDP have been proposed for higher secondary and high schools, and these labs will provide internet facilities, smart classes, video conferencing and community radio. It was further given out that 12000 tablets will be provided to the students and 18 higher secondary and 16 high schools will be shortlisted for installation of central heating system.

The concerned officers further informed the CEC that for dedicated power supply to schools, Rs 1.75 crores has been proposed while Rs 50 lacs has been proposed for purchase of furniture.

During the meeting, the CEC also took stock of the status of works and schemes undergoing in ICDS and Social Welfare.

Regarding Tribal Hostel Kargil, the CEC directed the District Social Welfare Officer to handover the building to the Degree College Kargil to ensure its optimum utilization.

 The CEC while enquiring about different schemes of the Social Welfare directed that the sanctioned beneficiary cases should be cleared in a time bound manner.

Regarding works undergoing in Tourism Sector, CEC Khan was informed that among other works, projects for river front development, construction of mega convention hall and conservation of Old Bazar Kargil have been proposed.

Meanwhile, the CEC also took review of the works under KDA, Suru Valley Division and R&B-II.

The CEC stressed upon the concerned officers to work with missionary zeal and dedication to ensure that works are completed within the set timeliness while considering the short working season. He also underlined the need to make optimum utilization of the available funds while also adhering to quality and quantity parameters during the execution of works on ground.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhdeve said that in view of limited working season, all ongoing works should be executed on fast pace and the funds disbursed should be utilized properly. He further said that quarterly review of the works will be done, and the concerned departments will have to submit the report to the DC Office and the LAHDC, Kargil.
