BSF top brass camping in J&K, ahead of Amit Shah’s visit

Jammu, October 22, 2021: Ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Jammu and Kashmir visit, Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Pankaj Kumar Singh along with Additional Director General, (Western Command) N S Jamwal are camping in J&K.

A BSF official told that the BSF chief visited sensitive forward areas of Tangdhar, Kupwara and Bandipora on Friday.

Shah will arrive in Srinagar on Saturday for a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and chair security review meetings, address panchayat members as well as political workers amid a wave of targeted attacks that have left 11 civilians dead in the region this month.

This will be Shah’s first visit to J&K since the nullification of the Constitution’s Article 370 in August 2019. Sources said that DG BSF was briefed by the local BSF Commanders about the security situation and operational preparedness along the IB.

“He held discussions with field commanders and reviewed the overall deployment and domination plan of BSF during the visit,” they said.

DG BSF was accompanied by Rajesh Mishra, IG BSF (Kashmir Frontier).

Meanwhile, N S Jamwal, Additional Director General, (Western Command) Chandigarh camped in Jammu and also visited the International Border (IB) along with D K Boora, IG FTR BSF Jammu and reviewed the security situation on border in wake of recent incidents in Jammu & Kashmir.

An official said that N S Jamwal , ADG visited sensitive border areas of Samba and Kathua and reviewed the operational preparedness of field formations at border.

“During his visit he also interacted with BSF troops and appreciated the challenging operational duties being performed by them. He was briefed by DK Boora IG BSF Jammu and the operational commanders with their domination plans,” the officials said.

Jamwal instructed them to be alive to the recent situation and strengthen their border domination more vigorously, the sources said. “His touring of other areas of Jammu, Arnia and Akhnoor will continue for next couple of days,” they added—(KNO)
