BJP Leader Condemns Assault on Renowned Oncologist Dr Sameer Koul, Calls for Strict Action Against Culprit Officers
Javid Kakroo Warns: Assault on Dr. Kaul Could Undermine Public Trust in Administration
Srinagar, June 25, 2024: Senior BJP leader Javid Kakroo has vehemently condemned the brutal assault on renowned oncologist Dr. Sameer Kaul by traffic police personnel at Nishat Road in Srinagar. In a statement issued today, Kakroo expressed his outrage at the incident, calling for immediate action against the officers involved.
“This is an unacceptable act of violence against a respected member of our community, a doctor who has dedicated his life to serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Kakroo stated. “Dr. Kaul has earned the admiration and gratitude of countless patients, and to see him subjected to such abuse and physical assault is appalling.”
Kakroo pointed out that the incident highlights a disturbing trend of unchecked power and abuse by some officers, undermining the public’s trust in the administration. “Such incidents erode the confidence of ordinary citizens in the government,” he said. “It’s imperative that swift and decisive action is taken to hold the perpetrators accountable and restore faith in the law enforcement system.”
He urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to personally intervene and send a strong message that such conduct will not be tolerated. “The BJP government does not condone this type of behaviour,” Kakroo asserted. “The LG should ensure that the culprits are swiftly brought to justice and appropriate disciplinary action is taken to prevent such incidents from recurring.”
Dr. Kaul, a prominent cancer specialist, alleged that he was verbally abused and physically assaulted by a group of traffic police officers, led by an inspector, while trying to navigate road closures related to the Lieutenant Governor’s convoy. The incident, which left Dr. Kaul injured and with broken glasses, has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation.
Kakroo expressed his hope that the LG administration will act decisively to address this issue, assuring the people of Kashmir that the government is committed to ensuring their safety and security. “We must work together to build a society where everyone feels safe and respected, regardless of their profession or social standing,” he concluded.
