All powers vested with CS to be exercised by Arun Kumar Mehta from Monday

Administrative Secretaries directed to address, mark all papers, files to him

Jammu, May 29, 2021: In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday ordered that all the powers vested with the Chief Secretary for disposing official business shall now be exercised by Arun Kumar Mehta from May 31, 2019.

According to an order, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the all the administrative departments have been directed to address/mark all the papers and files to Shri Arun Kumar Mehta, IAS w.e.f. May,31, 2021.

“Consequent upon the appointment of Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, IAS (CG: 1987) as Officer on Special duty in the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and appointment of Shri Arun Kumar Mehta, IAS (AGMUT:1988) as Chief Secretary, J&K, it is hereby ordered that all the powers vested with the Chief Secretary for disposing official business shall now be exercised by Shri Arun Kumar Mehta, IAS w.e.f. 31st May,2021,” reads the order.

The unprecedented move comes ahead of the relinquishing of the charge by outgoing CS, BVR Subrahmanyam.

It is worthwhile to mention that J&K government on Friday ordered appointment of Mehta as Chief Secretary, J&K from the date Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam relinquishes the charge.
