Ajaz Kazmi seeks wages for workers preparing midday meal in J&K’s Govt Schools

Urges Govt to provide them benefits as daily wagers

JAMMU, OCTOBER 26, 2021: President, Apni Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi has demanded wages as per daily wagers for the workers engaged to prepare midday meals in Govt. schools of J&K.

In a statement to the press following a meeting with the Trade Union leaders, Kazmi said that these people are not getting wages and it becomes very hard for them to support their families as the prices of the essential commodities are skyrocketing.

Under these circumstances, he said, that education department especially which is utilizing their services and not providing them adequate amount as wage like being provided to daily wagers should consider their demand.

“These workers who are preparing midday meals for the children in Govt schools across J&K should be given wages like daily wagers and their appointments should be made accordingly,” he said.

He said that the Govt works for the welfare of the people and a huge number of workers are associated with the Govt schools which encourage students from poor families to pursue their studies. These worker’s services must be acknowledged, he added.

“These workers belong to a marginalized section of society and it becomes imperative for the Govt and education department particularly to provide them benefits as daily wagers,” he said.

Meanwhile, he expressed his concern over the damage to the paddy corps in Jammu province and demanded adequate compensation for the families suffering due to the crop damage following massive hailstorm.

Prominent among those who were present in the meeting include Provincial President Apni Trade Union, Raj Sharma, District President, members Anirudh Vasist, Puran Chand, and Mudassir Shah, and others were also present.
