NPP urges Govt. of India to restore J&K Statehood & hold Assembly elections within six months
J&K Delimitation Commission
Jammu, July 11, 2021: J&K National Panthers Party Secretariat held an urgent meeting of the senior leadership of the party and demanded in a resolution immediate restoration of Statehood of J&K as it stood before August 5, 2019. The Panthers Party President, Prof.Bhim Singh, presided the meeting and urged the President of India for his urgent intervention to ensure that the Union Govt. follows the principles of democracy and rule of law which has been completely shadowed in J&K since August 5, 2019 when the Statehood of 200 years’ old State of J&K, a constituent part of the Union of India was taken away.
Prof.Bhim Singh also felt surprise that Delimitation Commission was presented several memoranda in J&K but Panthers Party has not understood why the Delimitation Commission held its extra sitting in Pahalgam (Kashmir) and Kishtwar District when two main sitting were organized in Srinagar and Jammu Tawi.
Prof.Bhim Singh said that the only way, as Panthers Party delegation has suggested, is to provide 50:50 Assembly seats to Kashmir and Jammu provinces.
Prof.Bhim Singh also suggested that 45 Assembly seats should go to Kashmir province and rest 45 to Jammu province. This is the only way to remove 74 years’ old internal tension between Kashmir and Jammu. He pointed out that Kashmir has an area of 16000 sq. kms. and 26000 sq. kms. Population of Kashmir province and Jammu is slightly differ and Jammu province has slightly more population than Kashmir. Anyway these figures are also not supported by concrete evidence. The way the J&K government decided to provide 140 district development councils for each district in Kashmir and Jammu province. Both provinces are having 10 districts in Kashmir Valley and Jammu province. This was also not a fair and equitable distribution because of the difference in population between one district and another.
NPP President also appealed to both residents of J&K to accept 50:50 share in Assembly constituencies i.e. 45 Jammu and 45 Kashmir.
