CEC Feroz Khan convenes meeting of officers of engineering departments, members of Contractors’ Association Kargil
KARGIL, JUNE 07, 2021: In order to address various grievances and issues of the Contractors’ Association Kargil and other related issues, Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan chaired a meeting of the concerned officers of the various engineering departments and members of the Contractors’ Association at Council Secretariat Kargil here today.
Executive Councilor for Works Aga Syed Abass Razvi, District Superintending Engineer, PWD Kargil Er Ved Prakash, Executive Engineers of PMGSY, R&B, I&FC, PHE, SVD Sankoo, PWD Zanskar, REW Kargil besides the representatives of Contractor Association were present in the meeting.
During the course of the meeting, CEC Feroz Khan said that in order to streamline and accelerate the pace of various developmental works in the district, a coordinated, transparent and workable strategy needs to be developed between the engineering wing and the Contractors’ Association.
Keeping in view the various suggestions from concerned officers of the engineering departments and the representatives of the Contractors’ Association, it was decided in the meeting that the amount of CDR for work allotment will be 2% of the total cost of the work, and GRs will be made offline one day before the date of tendering.
It was also decided during the meeting that the percentage of deposit for various works ranging between 0-10 lakhs will be nil, 10 to 15 lacs 10%, 15 to 20 lacs 15%, 20 to 25 lacs 20%, and in case of works between 25 to 30 lakhs it will be 30%.
The meeting also decided that in case of work allotments up to Rs 2 crores, technical conditions will be exempted from the contactors.
Meanwhile, CEC Khan assured that the rate fixation of labour will be taken up with the Assistant Labour Commissioner Kargil in due course of time and a proper rate list will be framed soon.
As regards to the utilization of stone and bajree for construction works, a meeting will soon be held with the Deputy Director Geology and Mining, UT Ladakh.
It was decided during the meeting that those contractors who don’t execute allotted works within the prescribed time will be blacklisted after giving one time notice.
CEC Feroz Khan urged the members of the Contractors’ Association to work in close coordination with the engineering departments so to avoid any hindrance in the execution of works on the ongoing developmental works. He also stressed the association members to start awareness among the contactor community regarding their roles responsibilities, and contribution in the overall development of the district.
