Covid-19—Mortality up again, cases down in J&K: 56 deaths, 2,803 new positive cases

Srinagar reports 382 positive cases; Case tally at 284,431, death toll mounts to 3,795, active cases increase to 41,383, recovery rate at 84.11 percent

Jammu, May 28, 2021: The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Friday witnessed 56 deaths due to Covid-19 while 2,803 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 41,382.

With 56 more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached 3,795 and 2,803 fresh positive cases reported on Friday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 284,431. Jammu and Kashmir is under tight grip of Corona Curfew since April 29.

Of the exact number of 284,431 cases, 174,846 are from Kashmir division and 109,585 from Jammu division. Officials told that among 2,803 new cases, 1,794 belong to Kashmir division while as 1,009 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 174,846 including 147,649 recoveries and 1,957 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 109,585 including 91,605 recoveries and 1,838 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 41,382 including 25,240 from Kashmir division and 16,142 from Jammu division.

With 3,637 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 239,254 which is 84.11 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 382 from Srinagar, 204 from Baramulla, 223 from Budgam, 179 from Pulwama, 228 from Kupwara,  207 from Anantnag, 57 from Bandipora, 168 from Ganderbal, 94 from Kulgam and 52 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 1009 from Jammu division include 320 from Jammu, 71 from Udhampur, 107 from Rajouri, 82 from Doda, 79 from Kathua, 71 from Samba, 30 from Kishtwar, 92 from Poonch, 77 from Ramban and 80 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Out of 56 deaths reported today, 08 died in GMC Jammu, 01 in CD Hosp Jammu, 02 in CH Udhampur, 01 in DH Reasi, 01 in DMC Ludhiana, 01 in GMC Doda, 05 in GMC Rajouri, 01 in MH Akhnoor, 03 in MH 02 in SMVDNH in Hot Brought Dead, in SMHS Sgr, 02 in SKIMS JVC Bemina, 02 in DH Bandipora, 04 in GMC Anantnag, 05 in GMC Baramulla, 01 in JLNM Hospital, 02 in DH Pulwama, 01 in DH Kulgam, 01 in CHC Kupwara & 01 in CHC Yaripora.

As per officials figures, 64,207 positive cases including 760 deaths and 58,086 recoveries are from Srinagar, 20,899  including 255 deaths and 17,528 recoveries are from Baramulla, 19,776 including 16,603 recoveries and 175 deaths are from Budgam, 12,679 including 10,266 recoveries and 163 deaths are from Pulwama, 11,576 including 139 deaths and 9,488 recoveries are from Kupwara, 14,127 including 9,944 recoveries and 161 deaths are from Anantnag, 8,266 cases including 7,191 and 87 deaths are from Bandipora, 8,456 including 7,079 recoveries and 67 deaths are from Ganderbal, 9,625 including 7,477 recoveries and 96 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,217 including 3,987 recoveries and 54 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 49,715 including 42,418 recoveries and 1,026  deaths are from Jammu district, 10,437 including 9,424 recoveries and 118 deaths are from Udhampur, 9,486 including 6,979 recoveries and 177 deaths are from Rajouri, 5,516 including 4,207 recoveries and 87 deaths are from Doda, 8,663 including 7,787  recoveries and 128 deaths are from Kathua, 6,677 including 4,683 recoveries and 107 deaths are from Samba, 3,927 including 3,585 recoveries and 32 deaths are from Kishtwar, 5,039  including 3,990 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Poonch, 4,920  including 3,969 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Ramban and 5,205 including 4,563 recoveries and 36 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 2,067,466 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 79,746 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 41,382 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,797,100 persons have completed surveillance period and 145,443 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 8,448,327 samples are available. Out of 8,448,327 the number of samples tested negative stands at 8,163,896 while as 284,431 have tested positive, among them 41,382 persons are active, 239,254 persons have recovered and 3,795 persons have died—(KNO)
