Police arrests two drug peddlers in Anantnag and Budgam; Contraband substances recovered
Jammu, May 24, 2021: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag & Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Anantnag, a Police party from Police Station Bijbehara at a checkpoint established at Karkadal Bijbehara intercepted one person identified as Javid Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat resident of Banderpora Kanelwon. During checking, officers were able to recover 2kgs of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 142/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up.
Similarly in Budgam, a Police party from Police Station Magam at a checkpoint established at Mazhama Bridge intercepted a suspicious person identified as Adil Ahmed Pandith son of Farooq Ahmed Pandith resident of Mazhama Magam. During checking, officers were able to recover 2.250kgs of bung from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 94/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Magam and investigation has been taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
