Bimla Luthra seeks focussed attention towards women, youth empowerment

R.S Pura, March 15, 2021: State Vice President National Conference Women Wing Mrs Bimla Luthra today expressed concern over marginalization of educated youth, rural poor, especially the women and sought fast-track measures in mitigating their accumulated problems on account of jobs and provision of minimum basic necessities.

“ Women and youth empowerment and provision of utility services to the poor have received major dent in recent years, courtesy BJPs lack of vision and these issues cannot be put to backburner anymore”, Mrs Luthra said while  carrying forward the membership drive among women in the area at Village Plata, Constituency R.S Pura.

Mrs Luthra  said Jammu has suffered due to the BJP non-performance and non-seriousness in addressing the core issues with regard to development, employment and implementation of various public welfare schemes. Instead of addressing these issues the BJP has been indulging in rhetoric, which does not augur well for the democratic polity. She advised the BJP leadership to come of age and go for extensive introspection over the failures in Jammu and Kashmir, where it failed miserably in feeling the pulse of the people and assuaging their economic, developmental and political aspirations. She dared the BJP to spell out just ten achievements during the party’s first and perhaps last tenure in the government between 2015 and 2018, saying the people of Jammu have a right to know this, as they gave it a huge mandate in 2014. The BJP will have to answer as to what happened to its much trumpeted recruitment drive for the border youth and allotment of five Marla plots to border dwellers. Will the BJP also say how many educated unemployed youth were provided jobs in their tenure and what measures were taken for women empowerment.

Mrs Bimla Luthra recalled the initiatives taken by the National Conference during its successive governments for overall development of Jammu and Kashmir, and added that the party  is  committed to equitable development of both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir and their sub-regions with priority attention to the problems faced by the youth.

Mrs Luthra urged the administration to focuss on women and youth empowerment, saying these were crucial for harmonious growth of Jammu and Kashmir.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included  Mrs Bharti, Mrs Savita, Mrs Jyoti, Mrs Raji, Mrs Swarna,Mrs Shakutla, Rita and others.
