Three Independent Councillors of DDC Ramban join NC
Dr Shamshad to be candidate for Chairperson, Rabia Rasheed for Vice-Chairperson
Jammu, February 17, 2021: Three independent Councillors of the District Development Council Ramban today said it was home coming for them and reinforcement of their commitment to the policies and programmes of the party, which has chequered history of serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Councillors, Mr Bashir Ahmed Runiyal, Ms Rabia Rasheed Beig and Mr Fayaz Ahmed Nayak joined the National Conference in the presence of Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana and other senior leaders.
Welcoming the three Councillors, the Provincial President said their return back to the party fold at a time when some unethical practices are being set by some political parties to grab the power by hook or crook speaks of their sincerity towards the larger public cause. The present spate of political opportunism is unfortunate, especially as the issues are related to governance at the grass roots level. The horse trading amounts to shaking the faith of the people in democracy. That such a precedence is being set to trample the public mandate is all the more disgusting, he added.
After discussing the impending elections to the posts of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the DDC Ramban, it was announced that while Dr. Shamshad Shan will be the party candidate for the slot of Chairperson, Ms. Rabia Rashid Beig will be the candidate for the post of Vice-chairperson.
Mr Rana said the National Conference is the ultimate destination for the public spirited people who want to contribute towards their areas and the people. He hoped the Councillors will carry forward their mission of transforming the rural landscape with renewed devotion and dedication.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Dr Chaman Lal Bhagat, Mr Sajjad Shaheen, Mr Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Mr. Naresh Bittu, Mrs. Shameem Begum, Mrs. Vijay Lakshmi Dutta, Ch Rehmat Ali others.
They also welcomed the Councillors and greeted their sagacious decision.
