Police arrests active terrorist in Bandipora, arms and ammunition recovered

Jammu, January, 28, 2021: Police along with security forces have arrested one active terrorist of proscribed terror outfit JeM from Patushahi area of Bandipora and recovered arms & ammunition from his possession.

Based on credible information, regarding movement of terrorists from Sopore to Bandipora, a joint special checkpoint was established by Bandipora Police along with security forces at Patushahi Bandipora. During checking, one active terrorist identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan son of Fayaz Ahmad Khan resident of Panzigam Bandipora was arrested.

Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition were recovered from his possession. As per police records he was linked with proscribed terror outfit JeM.

Preliminary enquiry reveals that the said terrorist had joined terrorist ranks recently and was tasked to carry out subversive activities in Sopore and Bandipora towns. It is pertinent to mention here that on 26/01/2021, the said terrorist managed to escape from a cordon and search operation at Adipora area of Sopore while taking advantage of darkness.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Bandipora and further investigation has been initiated.
