Grand Navreh Milan Sees Religious Leaders and Activists Call for Community Welfare and Rehabilitation
Jammu, March 20, 2026: A grand function was organized by the Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj at the Samaj Sudhar Samiti in Durga Nagar, Jammu, today, marking the auspicious occasion of Navreh Milan and the formal release of the Sapt Rishi Calendar for Samvot 5102. The event was a significant gathering of the displaced community, attended by a large number of socio-political activists, leaders, and intellectuals, and was graced by the presence of revered spiritual leaders. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Param Pujya Shri Shri 1008 Rudra Nath Mahakal Vishal Ji Maharaj, who formally released the religious calendar.
The function was also attended by Swami Kumar Ji Maharaj as a special invitee, who delivered an enlightening lecture on the spiritual significance of the day. The proceedings began with Acharya Sharad Dhar speaking on the occasion; he greeted the Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj for their consistent effort in releasing this important religious calendar and urged the organization to continue working vigorously for the welfare of the community. In their address, Shri Kiran Wattal, the convenor, and Shri M.K. Yogi, the General Secretary of Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj, extended warm greetings to all the people on the occasion of Navreh and explained in detail the deep religious importance of the Sapt Rishi calendar, which is integral to the socio-religious life of Kashmiri Pandits.
Both leaders also took the opportunity to highlight the plight of the community in exile and provided a detailed account of the extensive social work being carried out by their organization for the poor and economically weaker sections of the community since its inception. They spoke of initiatives like organizing samohak Yagnopavit ceremonies, solemnizing the marriages of underprivileged girls, running langars for the needy, helping poor children with their studies, and organizing periodic medical camps. They affirmed that the organization remains deeply engrossed in the social service of the community. They also impressed upon the Union Government to initiate tangible steps to address the genuine problems of the displaced community to finally bring an end to their long period of exile.
Pujya Sri Sri 108 Rudra Maharaj Mahakal Vishal Maharaj Ji, the chief guest, greeted the Kashmiri Pandit community on the auspicious occasion of Navreh. He delivered profound religious sermons on the subject and expressed his hope and blessings that all their sufferings in exile would end soon, leading them to a future of peace and prosperity. Shri Vinod Pandita, a notable social activist and special invitee, also spoke on the occasion and extended his greetings to the people on Navreh. In his concluding remarks, he presented a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the prominent socio-political activists, philanthropists, and academicians of the community who participated in the event with their benign presence.
