Jammu, January 01, 2026: Senior Vice President of the Apni Party and former Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir today inaugurated the 20th edition of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) at Jagati, highlighting the crucial role of sports in shaping a disciplined, healthy, and responsible generation.
The Kashmir Premier League was organised by Subash and his dedicated team from the Orzu Sports Cultural Club and witnessed enthusiastic participation from as many as 21 teams, reflecting the growing interest of local youth in competitive sports.
Mir was accompanied by Apni Party District President Jammu Urban Abhay Bakaya, Incharge Apni Party Shangus (Anantnag), and senior Kashmiri Pandit leader M.K. Yogi. The inaugural ceremony was marked by vibrant energy and strong community participation.
Addressing the gathering, Ghulam Hassan Mir said that youth are the most valuable asset of society and must be guided in the right direction to prepare them for a better tomorrow. “We have to reform our youth and make them better citizens, as they are the assets of the future,” he said.
Commending the efforts of the Orzu Sports Cultural Club, Mir noted that such cricket tournaments play a vital role in keeping young people physically active and positively engaged. He said initiatives like KPL provide an important platform for nurturing sporting talent and simultaneously help in steering youth away from social evils such as drug abuse, which is emerging as a serious concern.
“The participation of 21 teams itself speaks volumes about the success of this initiative. Sports not only build physical strength but also instil discipline, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility among the youth,” Mir added.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by several prominent community members, including Ashwani Bhat, Mumtesh Ji, Vijay Pandita, Sunil Pandita, Chandiji Bhat, Tej Krishan Dhar, and Naveen Gosian.
