JDU Escalates Push for Kashmiri Migrant Relief, Senior Leader K.C. Tyagi Urges CM for Swift Action

Rakesh Handu, JDU's Migrant Cell Incharge, meets with Tyagi to highlight the delay in the implementation of the Ad-hoc Monthly Relief (AMR) income cap removal for displaced families.

New Delhi, December 01, 2025: The Janata Dal (United) has intensified its efforts to ensure the timely implementation of the Delhi Government’s decision to remove the income ceiling on the Ad-hoc Monthly Relief (AMR) for Kashmiri Migrants. Following up on the concerns of displaced families, Shri Rakesh Handu, JDU’s Spokesperson and Incharge of the Migrant Cell for J&K, met with senior national leader and former Member of Parliament, Shri K.C. Tyagi, in New Delhi on Monday.

The meeting, which included a delegation of Kashmiri Migrants, was convened to address the on-ground confusion and delays surrounding the government’s announcement to abolish the ₹26,800 income cap for AMR eligibility. Despite the government’s declaration, a formal written order has not yet been issued, leaving both administrative departments and beneficiaries in a state of uncertainty.

In a formal representation dated November 16, 2025, Handu had previously requested Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta to issue the official order to provide clear instructions for implementation. He also sought clarification on the Special Opportunity Scheme, clearance of arrears up to September 2025, and the specific eligibility criteria for the relief.

Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, Shri K.C. Tyagi, a veteran politician with extensive experience as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry, penned a formal letter to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. In his communication, Tyagi highlighted the issues raised by Handu and urged the Chief Minister to grant a meeting to the delegation to facilitate an immediate resolution for the displaced Kashmiri families.

The JDU has firmly stated that the AMR is a rightful entitlement for the migrant community and has called on the Delhi Government to act without further delay. The party emphasizes that the release of the official order is crucial for the smooth and timely disbursement of the promised relief.
