Already reaffirming its status as a premier cultural event in North India, the festival has received over 100 film submissions from 20 countries, with the final deadline for entries set for September 30, 2025.
Since its inception, TIFFS has been instrumental in positioning Srinagar as a vibrant hub for art, culture, and cinematic excellence. Previous editions have consistently attracted entries from over 40 countries and have been graced by the esteemed presence of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Shri Manoj Sinha Ji. Building on this legacy, Co-Festival Director Rohit Bhat recently met with the Hon’ble LG to brief him on the upcoming fourth edition and formally extend an invitation to inaugurate the November ceremony.
Addressing the press, Co-Festival Director Rohit Bhat stated, “What started as a humble initiative has today evolved into a movement that celebrates not just films, but also the creative spirit of Kashmir. TIFFS is about giving local talent a platform while bringing world cinema to Srinagar. This edition will be bigger and more impactful, building on the strong foundation of the past three years.”
Festival Director Rakesh Roshan Bhat added, “TIFFS has become a global platform for showcasing diverse cinematic voices while positioning Srinagar on the international festival map. With growing international participation, we are committed to celebrating cinema that inspires, engages, and connects people across borders.”
The festival’s credibility within the global film community was highlighted by Jury Head Manzoor Ahmad Mir, who remarked, “It is heartening to see filmmakers from across the world recognizing TIFFS as a credible platform. The quality of films submitted this year reflects how seriously the global community is taking the festival, and we look forward to curating an enriching experience for audiences.”
The festival’s broader impact on the region’s narrative was emphasized by its advisors. Bhavna Pandita, Advisor to Vomedh, noted, “TIFFS is not just a festival; it’s a celebration of Kashmir’s resilience and creativity. By engaging youth and nurturing local talent, TIFFS continues to build a positive narrative.” Dr. Amit Wanchoo, Advisor to TIFFS, added, “Film is a powerful medium to tell the stories of Kashmir. TIFFS is creating an international platform where these stories can travel beyond boundaries.”
This year, the festival is also bolstered by strong industry collaborations. Pankaj Lidoo, Director of Landmark Crafts and Landmark Fasteners, expressed his privilege in being associated with the event, aiming to help it scale newer heights. In a significant development, Varun Sharma and Saajan Kherni, founders of the upcoming J&K-focused OTT platform Snowtales, announced their collaboration. “Our shared vision is to showcase authentic Kashmiri stories to the world and empower local talent with a platform that goes beyond the festival,” they stated jointly.
The festival has consistently attracted eminent Bollywood personalities, including B. Subhash, Subhash Kapoor, and Atul Tiwari. Kashmiri filmmaker Kapil Mattoo, whose short film Haput premiered at TIFFS before gaining international acclaim, remains a steadfast supporter.
The fourth edition of TIFFS promises a dynamic schedule of screenings, panel discussions, and workshops, continuing its mission to bridge local narratives with global cinematic perspectives and solidify Srinagar’s role as a proud center for art and culture. The core team, including Festival Directors Rohit Bhat and Rakesh Roshan Bhat, Advisors Bhavna Pandita and Dr. Amit Wanchoo, Jury Head Manzoor Ahmad Mir, and key members Zafar, Ajaz, Farhad Siddhiqui, Arshad Nowsheri, and Gulfam Barjee, continues to work tirelessly towards the festival’s success.
