Political parties ,their leaders and even the state governments and the union federal government are stooping too low and are indulging in petty politics and it is very dangerous for the country .The political parties ,politicians ,leaders and the governments should rise above politics over the atrocities ,naked parading of the two women in Manipur which is burning with the communal and ethnic violence .The most savage incident of parading two women naked and also indulging in rape is very unfortunate and most uncivilized and such incidents have no place in the civilized world and in the largest democracy of the world and such savage happenings are unacceptable in India .The atrocity and naked parading is not confined to Manipur only but many states in India and the capital of the country are witness to atrocities ,rapes ,killings and other heinous crimes against women .
There should be no selectivity in condemning the atrocities in various states of India and there is need for condemning the rapes and other atrocities against women with equal stress.On one side centre government day in and day out proclaims empowerment of women and give emphasis for the education and providing equal opportunities to women ,but on the other hand atrocities are committed against women which bring shivers down ones spine and all this savage and barbarity against women should stop in the country .We say Beti Bachoo Beti Padov but at the same time are not tired of inflicting pain and atrocities on women which is no less than savagery .The politics on the issue of atrocities against women and selectivity on condemning atrocities has no place in the country and all the political parties and politicians should abstain from indulging in dirty politics over the atrocities against women folk .
The atrocities against women is not confined to Manipur only but various states in India are suffering from this malady as cases of atrocities against women in Rajasthan ,Bihar ,West Bengal and even Delhi has witnessed increase in the near past and these atrocities against women have made us shameful as there is no place for atrocities against women in our democracy and therefore it should stop at once .It is so unfortunate and unbecoming that opposition parties are only raking and raising the issue of parading of the two women naked in Manipur and they maintain stoic silence over the atrocities against women in other states ruled by non-BJP parties .The political parties should equally slam and condemn the atrocities against women every were these atrocities are committed .
While condemnation and slamming of the savage crime of parading two women is all good and such savage acts should not have happened but then keeping silent over the atrocities against women in Rajasthan ,Bihar ,west Bengal ,Delhi is also unacceptable .Condemnation over the atrocities against women should be done without any distinction as it brings bad name to the political parties which indulge in such selectivity .The Manipur incident is as condemnable as the like incidents in some other states of India .There should be no bias or partiality in condemning the atrocities and savageness with the women flock as these are unacceptable in a democratic country and civilized society otherwise we can’t say that we are living in a liberal and civilized society .The high profile minister of Modi cabinet Anurag Thakur has said ,’’Crime against women is a crime ,be it in Manipur ,Bihar ,Rajasthan ,Bengal or Chhattisgarh —states have to take action .But they seem to be play politics only’’.
After PM Modi referred to alleged crimes against women in congress ruled Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in his first statement on Manipur violence ,the BJP launched a coordinated counter attack on the same lines .Senior party leaders pointed to crimes against women in opposition led and ruled states including ,apart from Rajasthan ,West Bengal ,Bihar ,Chhattisgarh and national capital Delhi .But pinpointing only Manipur is against conscience as incidents of crime against women are happening in several states ruled by the congress or other opposition parties .In West Bengal it is alleged that two tribal women had been stripped and beaten up in Malda district.TMC said the incident was local and a fallout of suspicion that the women were thieves .Malda SP Pradeep Kumar Vadav said a suo motu case had been lodged and six persons were detained .In Delhi addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters ,union minister Anurag Thakur accused opposition leaders of maintaining silence on assaults against women in non-BJP ruled states .Rajasthan is now ‘’the number one state in crime against women ‘’he said, ’’Over one lakh cases of crime against women have been registered in Rajasthan in last four years .
A total of 33,000 cases pertain to sexual assaults on women in Rajasthan’’ .Thakur said .Referring to the sacking of Rajasthan minister ,Rajendra Gudha ,hours after he criticized the state government on crimes against women’ ’Thakur said ,’’Will the chief minister Ashok Gehlot tender his resignation when his own minister says the CM has lost his authority ,when in his home district ,a women is murdered and burnt ,and when 5Km away from his residence ,a women is raped and left to die .’’Anurag Thakur said about West Bengal,’’Mamataji ,I don’t know of any mamata(’endearment) is left in your heart or not ,but humanity was ashamed when in Howrah’s Panchla area ,more than 40 goons of the TMC paraded a women naked on the day of Panchayat polls and the candidate contesting the election was beaten up and insulted .Thakur also alleged that a young women was assaulted in Bihar’s Begusarai district .He also said that crime cannot be differentiated ,states have to take action .
But they seem to be playing politics .Union Women and child development minister Smriti Irani talked of both West Bengal and Rajasthan too .’’What is extremely alarming is that a minister stood up against crimes against women in Rajasthan .He was unceremoniously dismissed by the congress party ’’.Equally shocking is the video which is now going viral on the internet ,emanating from the state of West Bengal ,in a district called Malda ,where two women are being mercilessly beaten and stripped .The Manipur incident and video is about two months back ,showing two tribal women being paraded naked and sexually assaulted by a mob .It is very sad despite the FIR lodged then but no action was taken till the shameful video surfaced ,since then six persons were arrested in this connection.
Tension mounted in the hills of strife –torn Manipur after a May 4 video surfaced showing two women from one of the warring communities being paraded naked by a group of men from the other side. .There is a long list of heinous crimes against women in opposition ruled states such as Rajasthan ,West Bengal and Bihar ,but it is playing politics over the Manipur incident ,the BJP alleged. Anurag Thakur further said,’’ From Bengal ,Bihar to Rajasthan ,crimes against women are on rise in the states ruled by the TMC,JD(U),RJD ,and Congress but the governments in these states are mute spectators .To conclude it can be said that there should be no politics on the crimes against women in different states and there should be no double standards about the atrocities and crimes against women in several states and the crimes against women should be tackled uniformly and there should be no selectivity .
The crime against women in Manipur is as bad and as condemnable as the crimes against women in other states of Rajasthan ,West Bengal ,Bihar ,Chhattisgarh and Delhi and there should be equal condemnation of the crime against women in various states and there should be no politicking on this sensitive issue. Thus the title of this write up .All the cases of crime against women should be probed and the perpetrators should be nabbed and exemplary punishment given to the culprits so that the punishment works as a deterrence and no such crimes will surface in future.
