Police Commemoration Week
Budgam, October 30, 2021: As a part of Police Commemoration Weeek to commemorate the sacrifices of Police martyrs, Police have organised Marathon in Pulwama & Carrom Championship in Budgam. Moreover, school bags and other stationery items were distributed in Ganderbal.
In Pulwama, the run was flagged off by SSP Pulwama Shri Gh Jeelani Wani-JKPS besides COs 182Bn & 183Bn CRPF and other senior officers of Police were also present. The Marathon was categorized in two groups viz, under-19 age group and above-19 age group in which Police, CAPF, students and local youth of Pulwama participated. The Marathon started from Bonoora crossing and culminated at Payer Crossing for under-19 age group, while as culminated at Koil Crossing for above-19 age group participants. On the conclusion, the chairing officers congratulated the winners and distributed cash prizes among the Ist, 2nd & 3rd position holders in both age groups.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairing officers said that the run was organized to give boost to the sports activities and channelize youth energy in positive manner and to re-affirm the inherent strength of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity.
In Budgam, a Carrom Championship was organised by Police at DPL Budgam in which 16 players from various areas of district Budgam participated. Pertinently, on 31st Oct ‘Run for Unity’ is scheduled to be held on eve of ‘National Unity Day’ and hundreds of school students and youth including boys and girls have already registered for the event.
Similarly, Police in Ganderbal under the aegis of civic action programme distributed stationery items/school bags among the 60 orphan students up to 8th class at DPL Ganderbal. SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS accompanied by DySP DAR DPL Ganderbal and District Social Welfare Officer Ganderbal Shri Akeel Ahmad distributed the school bags and other stationery items among the orphan students.
Meanwhile, Police in Shopian also organised a Cricket match at DPL Shopian. The winner team was felicitated with cash reward and other prizes.
Community members have lauded the role of Police for rendering such services to the general public, besides organising such events and hoped that Police will organise such events in future to channelize the energy of youth into positive manner that will help in nation building.
