82 crime cases, FIRs lodged against women in 9 Kashmir districts since 2020

'Cases comprise murder, drug trafficking, theft'

Srinagar, October 19, 2021: In past one and a half years, at least 82 crime cases and FIRs have been registered against the females in nine districts of Kashmir division for committing offences like murder, drug trafficking and theft cases.

The news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has learnt that since January-01-2019 to May-31-2021, at least 82 different crime cases were registered against the females across the Kashmir valley except the Kupwara district.

In a Right to Information (RTI) application filed by the applicant M M Shuja, the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the sub-division police Awantipora says that at least four females in the area were involved in crime cases and all were booked under drug trafficking cases.

Similarly, the district police headquarters Srinagar in a reply has said that at least 47 number of cases and FIRs were registered in which females were involved in different crimes.

However, the office of the deputy superintendent of police headquarters Pulwama had mentioned NIL in the reply.

Likewise, PIO of north Kashmir’s Bandipora had mentioned that “exempted from disclosure under section 08 of RTI-act 2005 in the report.”

In the meantime, the PIO of the office of the deputy superintendent of police headquarters Shopian had mentioned only one case has been registered in Police Station Shopian with immediate effect from 01-01-19 to 31-05-2021

The concerned officer at the office of deputy superintendent of police headquarters Ganderbal had mentioned that two theft cases have been registered against the females during the period under the report.

Similarly, the PIO at office of the deputy superintendent of police headquarters Kulgam had mentioned that 11 cases were registered against the females in the report.

The PIO of office of the deputy superintendent of police headquarters Baramulla said, “At least six cases have been registered wherein females have been involved during this period that includes two cases of drug trafficking, one kidnapping case and three murder cases.”

District police headquarters Budgam has said that two cases have been registered wherein females have been involved during this period that includes one drug trafficking and one murder case.

Likewise, the officer at the deputy superintendent of police headquarters Anantnag had said, “Nine females are involved in different crime cases.”—(KNO)
