21-Day Workshop on Folk Music and Dance of Jammu & Kashmir Commences

Organized by Vemedh Rangmanch under the Scheme for Preservation and Development of Cultural Heritage of the Himalayas (BTI)

Jammu, May 15, 2025: Vemedh Rangmanch proudly announces the commencement of a 21-day training workshop under its ongoing project focused on the Traditional Folk Art of Jammu and Kashmir, specifically encompassing folk music and dance traditions. The workshop has been organized as part of the Scheme for Preservation and Development of Cultural Heritage of the Himalayas (BTI) for the financial year 2023-24.

This initiative aims to revive, preserve, and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Himalayan region, with a special focus on the diverse and vibrant folk traditions of Jammu and Kashmir. The training program brings together experienced folk artists, cultural practitioners, and enthusiastic learners to facilitate the intergenerational transmission of these invaluable art forms.

The workshop will provide participants with intensive training in traditional folk music styles, vocal techniques, dance forms, instruments, and performance practices unique to the region. Through this initiative, Vemedh Rangmanch seeks to foster cultural pride and ensure the continuity of intangible cultural heritage.

Speaking on the occasion, Rohit Bhat, President of Vemedh Rangmanch, said, “It is our responsibility to safeguard the traditions passed down to us by our ancestors. This workshop is a small but significant step toward empowering local artists and connecting younger generations with their roots.”

The program is being held at [Insert Venue], with participation from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative has received support from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, under its Himalayan cultural preservation scheme.
