Vomedh appoints Wing Commander (Retd) Ashok Saraf as its first Advisor
Ashok Saraf and his wife Asha Saraf had a dream of helping poor sections of society. After the demise of his wife Mrs Asha, Mr Ashok founded and established a trust in the name of Mrs Asha Saraf & Wing commander Ashok Kumar Saraf Charitable Trust in April 2018.
Jammu, January 16, 2023: Airforce veteran, Wing Commander (Retd) Ashok Saraf has been appointed as the first ever advisor of Vomedh, a cultural organisation working for the upliftment and preservation of Kashmiri Pandit Culture through theatre, film, print and electronic media. Spreading its boundaries in and across J&K, UT, Vomedh has always appreciated its people working for the society and their community in real sense. As such, taking a special move, Vomedh has enlisted Wing Commander (Retd) Ashok Saraf, a recipient of the Kargil Gaurav National award and a nominee in Health care philanthropy, as its first ever Advisor.
Ashok Saraf and his wife Asha Saraf had a dream of helping poor sections of society. After the demise of his wife Mrs Asha, Mr Ashok founded and established a trust in the name of Mrs Asha Saraf & Wing commander Ashok Kumar Saraf Charitable Trust in April 2018. Since then, the trust has successfully contributed for uplifting various sections of the society especially the servicemen and their families. Mr Ashok Saraf’s trust has till now donated more than 12 lakhs to Airforce stations and helping needy females stand tall. Through his Trust, Ashok Saraf has already helped cancer patients by funding more than 100 chemo therapy instruments and needles. In loving memory of his wife Asha Saraf, Mr Ashok Saraf has funded various educational institutions. This includes a contribution of Rs 6 lakhs for Corpus funding at Bangalore Rotary Indiranagar Trust has been made. This is for “Asha Saraf Teacher’s Excellence Award in the Field of education” which includes Rolling Trophy, Citation, Shawl and Cash of Rs. 5000.00 to eight teachers from 8 different Government schools every year.
Not only this, Ashok Saraf has also worked for the upliftment of Karunashraya (Hospice Trust Bangalore) with Donation of Rs 60,00,000=00 (sixty lac) for construction of OPD Block I in the name of Asha Saraf along with a contribution of Rs. 5 lakhs as Corpus fund at Karunashraya (Hospice Trust Bangalore) Interest of which will be utilized for last rights of unclaimed bodies. For the medical welfare of the community people, Ashok Saraf has donated 51,00,000=00 (fifty-one Iac) for construction of OT to Vitasta hospital Jammu.
As an earnest social worker, Mr Ashok Saraf is now planning to build one room apartments in Srinagar, Kashmir, for the Defence and Kashmiri Migrant families at the cost of Rs 80,00,000=00 lac (Eighty Lac)
Appreciating his untiring efforts for the welfare of the society, Vomedh appointed him its first Advisor. The Director/ Founder Vomedh Rohit Bhat while announcing his induction to Vomedh welcomed him as Advisor and expressed high hopes of leaving no stone unturned for cultural upliftment of the KP community under his able advice and guidance.
