Ravinder Sharma Selected for Junior Research Fellowship 2022-23 by Ministry of Culture, Government of India

Jammu, January 23, 2025: Ravinder Sharma, a distinguished theatre director, actor and writer with over two decades of dedication to the performing arts, has been selected for the prestigious Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) 2022-23 by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. His research topic, “Theatre as a Part of School Curriculum”, aims to explore the integration of theatre into education, highlighting its potential to foster creativity, confidence and holistic learning among students.

A luminary in the world of theatre, Ravinder Sharma has directed over 50 acclaimed plays, including adaptations of timeless classics such as The Bacchae, Othello, King Lear, The Refund, Final Solutions, and The Tempest. With a passion for innovation and storytelling, he has participated in more than 400 stage performances across India. His repertoire includes celebrated productions like Hamlet, Oedipus Rex, Antigone, Abhigyan Shakuntalam, The Trojan Women and Dak Ghar.

Ravinder has had the privilege of working alongside stalwarts such as Shri Bapi Bose, Souti Chakraborty and Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, further enriching his artistic journey. Beyond his directorial brilliance, his versatility lies in designing and directing unique productions that resonate with diverse audiences, making a lasting impact on the cultural fabric of the nation.

Over the years, Ravinder’s remarkable contributions to theatre have earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Rang Bhushan Award by Global Theatre Odisha. He has also won several Best Play and Best Director awards at state and national theatre festivals.
