Police busts gang of dacoits in Pulwama

Pulwama, November 17, 2021: Police in Pulwama have busted gang of dacoits by arresting four accused persons involved in extortion & theft cases. Besides, jewelry and other articles worth lacs of rupees were also recovered.

Police Station Rajpora Pulwama received information with regard to roaming of a gang of dacoits in the area during night time, masquerading themselves to be gunmen and extorted valuables on gun point from the inmates of targeted houses.

On receipt of this information, Pulwama Police established various checkpoints/traps and managed to caught one culprit red-handed at Hanjin Balla while executing his criminal act. He has been identified as Aamir Majeed Mir son of Ab Majeed Mir resident of Rajpora Pulwama. On search, one toy pistol & extorted jewellery items were recovered from his possession.

During questioning, he disclosed that he alongwith other two persons namely Aamir Ali Chopan son of Ali Mohd Chopan resident of Rajpora and Umar Rasheed son of Ab Rasheed Dar resident of Rajpora, were involved in recent theft & extortion incidents in Rajpora area. During further questioning, he also disclosed the name of one goldsmith namely Altaf Ahmad Naikoo son of Mohd Yousuf from Meemander Shopian who used to receive stolen jewellery. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.

Officers were also able to recover extorted jewellery including 08 Golden Rings, a plain golden chain, a golden chain with beeds, 02 golden pounds, 02 golden ear rings & a golden necklace. Besides a stolen load carrier bearing registration number JK03A-2171 has also been recovered.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered and further investigation is in progress.
