No Implementation Of UGC Guidelines in Toto in Farm Varsities of Jammu & Kashmir: SKUAST-TAJ
Jammu, January, 31, 2021: “The implementation of UGC guidelines in toto in farm universities of J&K will damage the interest of the scientists working in the outstations and far off KVKs as agricultural varsities have mandate of teaching, research and extension and UGC 2018 guidelines are framed keeping only academic activities in the forefront for evaluation of teachers and these UGC guidelines do not take into consideration the mandate of research stations and krishi vigyan kendras where scientists have limited opportunities regarding teaching / academic activities and following such rules will hamper the career prospects of the scientists at KVKs and research stations” said President SKUAST-TAJ Dr. Vikas Sharma in a press statement. Dr. Vikas informed that all the neighbouring universities like Punjab Agricultural University – Ludhiana, Haryana Agricultural University – Hisar, Himachal Pardesh Agricultural University – Palampur and even Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) do not implement these guidelines in toto in any of the Institutes and State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) neither in past nor will do in future and the implementation of these UGC guidelines cannot be done in a hurry without giving a thought about its repercussions on the career of majority of scientists working in research stations and KVKs of SKUAST-Jammu and SKUAST-Kashmir. Dr. Sharma further said that the matter has already been discussed with teaching association of SKUAST-Kashmir
