Militancy can spread from Afghanistan to Kashmir: Russian ambassador
Srinagar, September 07, 2021: Russia’s ambassador to India Nikolay Kudashev has said that Russia and India have a “common concern” that Afghanistan’s land should not be used to spread militancy, following the Taliban’s occupation of Afghanistan.
He said that there is a possibility of “threat” of terror in the Russian region as well as in Kashmir. He said that there is not much difference between the position of Russia and India regarding the situation in Afghanistan.
However, he also made it clear that it would be too early to recognize a Taliban government to be formed in Afghanistan. He said that the Taliban regime will be recognized on the basis of the work done by it.
He said Russia would like to see an inclusive government in Afghanistan that can ensure security, stability and predictability.
The Russian envoy said there is “ample scope” for working together with India and Russia on Afghanistan and both sides are in constant touch with the latest situation in Afghanistan. (PTK)
