Little Kingdom of The Shri Ram Universal School celebrates Shri Krishna Janmashtami
Jammu, August 18, 2022: Toddlers of the Little Kingdom of The Shri Ram Universal School celebrated Shri Krishna Janmashtami, an annual commemoration of the birth of the Hindu deity Lord Krishna, the eighth Avatar of Lord Vishnu, in the school campus on Friday. The school celebrated the pious festival with all fervor and heightened spirit.
The programme was witnessed by Col VK Sharma (Retd), Principal TSUS Jammu, Ms. Shivani Vaid Sharma, Headmistress TSUS Jammu, Ms. Manpreet Kour Jhans, CCA Coordinator of the school and all the students and teachers of the elementary wing.
Students aged three to six years were aesthetically dressed up as Krishnas and Radhas. Idol of Lord Krishna depicting his infancy stage was placed in a cradle or ‘Palna’. The school was beautified for the festivity and ‘aarti and bhajans’ were recited. Songs glorifying Lord Krishna were played. Children enthusiastically chanted ‘Haathi Ghoda Palki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki’
A puja was performed by the Principal, Headmistress, staff and children of the school. Fragrance of flowers, soothing aroma of burning camphor and jingling sound of the bells filled the air with positive vibe. Prasad was distributed to all the children after the puja.
Several mirthful performances were put forth by the students. Tiny tots dressed as little Krishnas’ presented a dance performance which ignited the spirit of the festival.
A small skit, highlighting the victory of good over the evil, and signifying the teachings of Lord Krishna’s life for mankind marked the informative phase of the celebration.
The enthusiasm, colour and gaiety reached its zenith when the teachers of the elementary wing exhibited their impeccable skills of rhythmic dancing and mesmerized the audience.
Principal, Col VK Sharma (Retd), lauded the efforts put in by the teachers and gleeful performances of the students. While addressing the kids he spoke about the significance of the day and various aspects of Krishna’s youthful days. He added that these pious occasions bring people together and signify unity and faith. He further said that all religious festivals, including Gurupurab, Eid and Christmas are celebrated in the school to promote brotherhood among the budding citizens of our country and lay the right foundation for their bright future.
The mischievous side of little Kanha and ‘Dahi Handi’ celebration were briefly touched upon by Headmistress Ms. Shivani Vaid Sharma.
A lot of fun- filled activities like painting, magic – pot etc were also held in the classes.
