Kallpoosh and Loomba Foundation Celebrate International Widows Day at GharApna
Kallpoosh and Loomba Foundation Join Forces for Widows' Empowerment
Jammu, June 23, 2024: Kallpoosh Foundation, in collaboration with Loomba Foundation, observed International Widows Day 2024 at GharApna, a Senior Citizen Home in Nardhani, Jammu on June 23rd Sunday. The day-long event featured an interactive session aimed at raising awareness and empowering rural widows. The participant widows came from different strata of the society including CRPF Veer Naris and other ladies from different areas of Jammu.
Resource persons from various organizations delivered lectures and shared insights on how widows can build a better life and future for themselves.
Dr. Rajender Dhar, Patron of Kallpoosh Foundation, who is a District Judge and Member – District Consumer Court (South – II), Former Additional Labour Commissioner / Additional Secretary (Labour), Government of NCT of Delhi, currently Resource Person of JKUT, presided over programme. He commended the efforts of both foundations, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in supporting marginalized members of society.
Dr. Dhar, a renowned legal and administrative expert, addressed several issues facing rural widows and assured them that their concerns would be brought to the attention of higher authorities.
The resource persons included Sunil Kumar from Mission Shakti Sankalp, who detailed government schemes and services for women in Jammu and Kashmir.
Advocate Upasna Thakur educated women about their rights and offered free legal and human rights assistance.
Er Kuldeep Singh Bhatia, Registrar of the Board of Technical Education, provided information about entrepreneurship schemes for women, girls, and other neglected sections of society.
Anil Sharma, Principal of PMTC KVIC Pampore, presented an audio-visual documentary outlining various schemes, encouraging rural women to connect with his department and explore opportunities for economic empowerment.
Dr. Sarita Sood, Senior Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology at the University of Jammu, offered insightful advice on navigating hardships and leading fulfilling lives.
Daisy Bazaz, a Senior Artist and Social Activist, encouraged women through her audio-visual presentation, to connect with organizations offering resources and opportunities for a dignified life.
Social Activist Anuradh ji introduced many deserving widows who have not been receiving the benefits of widow pension etc and Dr Rajender Dhar noted down many cases to put forward before the higher authorities.
King C Bharati, JKUT Co-ordinator of Kallpoosh Foundation, welcomed the guests.
Veena Wanchoo, Chairperson of Kallpoosh Foundation, presented bouquets to the dignitaries and emphasized the collaborative efforts of both foundations.
Rajinder Wanchoo, Team Leader of Kallpoosh Foundation, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all participating institutions and guests.
Chushul Mahaldar, a social activist, and Ishu Bharati Pandit, a young actor and activist, managed the event’s arrangements.
