J&K administration delegates financial powers to officials of RDD
Officials can grant administrative approval to works between Rs 15 lakh
Jammu, November 02, 2021: In a significant development, the administration of Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory on Monday empowered the officials of the Rural Development Department to grant administrative approval for development works up to Rs 15 lakh.
In a notification, the Lieutenant Governor of J&K Union Territory has delegated his financial powers to officials of RDD for granting administrative approval to development works.
The powers have been delegated under section 67 of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act- the law passed by the Parliament in 2019 to reorganise the erstwhile state of J&K into two Union Territories.
According to the notification, the additional district development commissioner can accord administrative approval for works upto Rs 15 lakh while Assistant Commissioner Development and District Panchayat Officer can respectively grant administrative approval for works upto Rs 10 lakh and Rs five lakh respectively.
The BDO has been empowered to grant administrative approval for works upto Rs two lakh.
These officers can give administrative approval subject to the condition that work has been approved in the capital expenditure/ revenue components of the budget and funds are available—(KNO)
