JDU Delegation Urges Delhi CM to Expedite Relief for Kashmiri Migrants; Gupta Assures Swift Action

New Delhi, December 03, 2025: A delegation from the Janata Dal (United) met with Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta on Wednesday to address the significant delays in implementing crucial financial relief measures for Kashmiri Migrant families residing in the capital. The delegation highlighted that despite government announcements, promised benefits have not been disbursed due to the absence of an official written order.

The meeting, led by Shri Rakesh Handoo, JDU Spokesperson and Incharge of the Migrant Cell for Jammu and Kashmir, was arranged following a formal request for an urgent audience by senior party leader Shri K. C. Tyagi. The facilitation by Shri Tyagi, along with other prominent JDU figures including Shri Harivansh Narayan Singh and Shri G. M. Shaheen, underscored the party’s serious concern over the issue.

During the discussion, Shri Handoo articulated the pressing challenges faced by nearly 1,800 Kashmiri Migrant families in Delhi. He conveyed that several key government pledges remain unfulfilled on the ground. These include the removal of the ₹26,800 income ceiling for eligibility for Ad-hoc Monthly Relief, the implementation of a Special Opportunity Scheme, and the clearance of all arrears up to September 2025.

Shri Handoo emphasized that while the existing entitlement provides ₹3,250 per person for a family of up to four members, none of these enhanced or promised benefits can be accessed by the beneficiaries until the Delhi government formally issues the necessary administrative order.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta listened intently to the delegation’s concerns, meticulously recording each point in her official diary. She acknowledged the administrative lapse and gave a firm assurance to the JDU leaders that the required order would be released without any further delay to ensure the promised relief reaches the families promptly. The swift implementation of this order is now awaited to provide much-needed financial support to the migrant community.
