Jammu, October 20, 2022: The Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (JKUT) will soon join the club of top metro cities of India and the world as the JKUT is going to have the first of its kind Open-Air Cinema where people are expected to throng in large numbers to witness a new era of entertainment dawning over in Jammu under the stars and a natural ambience.
The sources privy to the development confirm that this first of its kind Open-Air Cinema in J&K is soon going to be launched in Jammu city where all the amenities of multiplexes will be available coupled with cosy atmosphere with an expected capacity of 500 seats.
The sources said that the organisers of this out-of-box idea are adding yet another feather to the developmental cap of Jammu and Kashmir to bring it at par with the most advanced cities of India and abroad and hope that this will give further boost to the tourism industry of the state particularly Jammu which till now has not been receiving so much attention from any quarter.
The sources said that people will enjoy movies under the open sky and gaze of the stars where regular movie theatre requirements like water, cold drinks, popcorn and other facilities will be made available and people can enjoy their movie like home but in a professional style.
Jammuites in particular would not have to wait much as the Open-Air Cinema according to sources will be launched in the beginning of December this year which will be a big gift for the people of the state who want to enjoy metro city facilities right next to their doorsteps.
The Open-Air Cinema when launched will give a boost to the economy of Jammu and bring the city at par with cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Gurgaon and Pune where such concepts have attracted people in large numbers.
It is worthwhile to mention here that Open-Air Cinema’s are a craze among the movie goers across the globe and present a out of the world experience away from closed confines of the cinema hall without any limitations to watch the movie on fixed chairs.
The new trend in the cinema watching is fast spreading across the globe and while top Indian cities are not new to this concept but for Jammu and Kashmir it will be the beginning of a new era in real sense where cool breeze, open air, sky full of stars and locales out of a Bollywood movie would be giving company to the movie buffs having the flexibility to stretch their legs, take a stroll and bring in a popcorn from the nearby stall while watching the movie with style.
For the uninitiated the Open-Air Cinema is a new concept where large screen is put in a garden or open space surrounded with beautiful location under the open sky with chairs or even mattresses laid down for the movie buffs who can watch their favourite movie after the Sun sets and the beautiful sky filled with stars begins to shine with food stalls and other amenities put around the garden where people can buy some popcorn or a cold drink while watching the movie in a relaxed atmosphere.
In India many cities like, New Delhi, Gurgaon, Pune, Bengaluru etc have such Open-Air theatres running successfully while the top cities around the globe are also well known for the new concept taking over the old cinema halls.
