Jal Shakti Dept supplies contaminated drinking water in Mendhar: Raqeeq Ahmed Khan
MENDHAR, October 29, 2021: Apni Party Youth Wing State Vice President Raqeeq Ahmed Khan has urged Govt. to ensure clean drinking water in Keri Kandi and Gulthea in Mendhar Tehsil, Poonch District.
In a statement to the press, Khan said that the people in Keri Gulthea have complained of contaminated drinking water by the Jal Shakti Dept.
However, the concerned department has yet to wake up from the repeated complaints and the officials remained unresponsive to the leakage in the main supply line of tap-water to the houses in the above areas.
“These supply lines have become a main cause of contaminated water supply in a season where the health cases are already on rise in several districts including Poonch. There is serious concern among the people about apprehensions of waterborne diseases due to the contaminated drinking water,” he said.
He said that it is the responsibility of the Jal Shakti Dept to ensure clean drinking water is supplied for which they have to make needed repair work in the leakage of the main supply line.
“The Dept. is not responding rationally and not asking its officials on ground to make the immediate repair work,” he added.
