India’s leading spiritual internet radio channel turns 1

Offers content on spiritual wisdom, yoga, life hacks, positive stories to uplift the listener; emerged as an important resource sharing platform during the peak of the pandemic

5 July, 2021, JAMMU : India’s leading spiritual internet radio station, The Art of Living Radio, completed 1 year of operations successfully, adding over 1.7 lakh listening hours and 15.4 million impressions, not just in India but across 12 countries including the U.S, Nepal, Mauritius, South Africa, Australia, Canada, Germany and Netherlands.

In what has been a particularly trying year, The Art of Living Radio in its first year has reached out to thousands of listeners, uplifting their spirits with content on yoga, meditation, soothing devotional music, programs on practical and relatable spiritual wisdom, life hacks, beauty, health and relationship advice and shows dedicated to celebrating positive news stories, and heroes who inspire from daily lives- be it the fastest human calculator; or the Youtube hero who made Baba da Dhaba go viral; or woman bus conductor-turned-entrepreneur; or the IPS officer who shared his mark sheet on social media to lift up the spirit of students after Board results, or stories of inspiring women farmers. But as the pandemic peaked, with thousands of listeners offering and seeking help, the channel emerged as an active platform for matching critical resources for oxygen cylinders, hospital beds, plasma donors, medicines, food and other essential items.

“A gentleman and regular listener from India messaged us saying, that during this tough time, sometimes it felt too difficult and impossible to feel happy or normal,” shares RJ Sunita, “but the Art of Living Radio stream gave him company during the lonely times in the second wave of the covid-19.”

Owing to the usefulness and relatability of the content, the average duration of a view on The Art of Living Radio lasts for about 12 minutes, several minutes longer than views on other radio shows.

“The Art of Living Radio combines top quality devotional music library with a youthful, upbeat presentation and has developed a very loyal following in its first year of operation,” shares Nakul Dhawan, Trustee, Sri Sri Publications Trust, “We’re very excited with the responses from our listeners and are looking to expand our reach by making the Art of Living Radio widely available through more avenues.”

With the underlying theme of spirituality and positivity as a way of life, the radio channel with the tagline-Zara Muskuraiye, has had something upbeat to offer for everyone and impacted listeners beyond their caste, religion, age or gender.

In a particular show, for example, “I was discussing about how Noida sector 50 station has been renamed as She Man station and is employing people from the transgender community,” shares RJ Shagun, “I got an audio message from a third-gender person thanking me for sharing this information and talking about it. She was from Noida and was looking for a job. That’s how powerful radio is.”

The response to the channel has been highly encouraging. Dealing with breakups and relationship issues; loneliness; loss of near and dear ones; searching for inspiration; looking for something positive to listen to; or seeking answers to spiritual questions-listeners shared that the channel-with its radio jockeys who have distinct upbeat personalities, soothing and empathetic voices-became a one-stop channel for a better body and a healthy and happy mind.

“This pandemic was a stressful time for me,” shared Sahil on a social media post, “I broke up with my long-time girlfriend and I was away from my family, but thanks to Art of Living Radio and my favourite Rjs, it gave me strength to get on with my life every day.”
