India to complete vaccination of 1 billion people, Oct 14 to be celebrated as ‘milestone’ in country

DHSK directs officials to distribute appreciation certificates among health care workers

Srinagar, Oct 13, 2021: India is likely to achieve a feat of vaccinating one billion population tomorrow on 14 October and the day will be celebrated as a milestone in the fight against Covid-19, officials said on Wednesday.

A circular issued in the regard by Director Health Services Kashmir said that it is to inform that the country may achieve the mark of vaccination of one billion population for Covid-19 on 14th October 2021 and the Government of India has desired that this day be observed as a milestone in our fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

“In addition to above, pertinently, it will be a landmark occasion for J&K in particular as the date of achieving 100 percent vaccination among 18 years+ age group within the UT is also expected to coincide with the one billion vaccination mark across India,” the circular reads.

“As such, all the Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents & Block Medical Officers of Kashmir Division are enjoined to take the initiatives and measures suggested by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India for observing celebrating the milestone of completion of 100 million vaccinations across India and also for achieving 100% first dose Covid-19 vaccination among 18 years age group,” It said.

The initiatives include the illumination of Health Department buildings (health institutions & other buildings), installation of hoardings, certificates of appreciation to be awarded to healthcare workers for their exceptional efforts and media coverage to be given across Kashmir division—(KNO)
