Government must concede Genuine Demands of Rehbar-e- Khel Teachers, Condition of these Teachers are unbearable   – ABRSM

Jammu, January 16, 2023: Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shakshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) has expressed serious concern on the miserable plight of Rehber-e- Khel teachers (REK),

The PM package employees and other Jammu-based Reserved Categories Employees working in Kashmir valley.

Addressing the teachers here today, National Auditor/ JKUT President ABRSM , Devraj Thakur said that highly qualified candidates were appointed as Rehber-e- Khel teachers in department of youth services and sports on a meagre salary with an assurance of regularisation of their services but it’s unfortunate that these teachers are working on peanuts despite putting in their best to regulate sports activities throughout Jammu Kashmir now on roads since two months.

“The department of youth services and sports has recruited Rehbar-e Khel teachers in the year 2019 in different Schools of Jammu and Kashmir in order to uplift the youth service and sports department in Union Territory.

The probation period of the physical education teachers recruited Rehbar-e-khel Teacher has been kept for seven years” Thakur added.

They were expecting regularisation, but were shocked when the government decided to unfreeze these posts for re-advertisement, Thakur said.

According to the policy the monthly honorarium was fixed Rs 3000 for the first two years and 4000 for three to seven years, which is very low from the basic pay.

It is really not possible in today’s world to fulfil the daily basic needs of physical education teachers.

Thakur said that worstest condition of Rehber-e- Khel teachers are unbearable and if it continues, most of these teachers will leave their jobs because they are not able to feed their families properly and better education to their wards is a distant dream.

Thakur further added that it’s because of the efforts put in by these Rehber-e- Khel teachers that the other wise defunct department of youth services and sports has made a remarkable progress and has brought laurels to the department.

ABRSM leader said that Rehbar-e-khel teachers are protesting for redressal of their demands for regularisation, enhancement in monthly salary and reduction in probationary period, but nobody is ready to listen their plight.

 Thakur added that these teachers have received assurances from all quarters but nothing concrete has come out so far, with the result these highly literate and skilled teachers have been left to starvation, which will be called bad kind of exploitation.

Urging upon the LG Administration to resolve the genuine issues of Rehbar-e-khel teachers at an earliest, so that they can get justice and secure their career.
