EC Mohsin Ali stresses for practical solutions in urban development
Workshop on awareness, importance of solid waste management for safai karamcharis held at Kargil
KARGIL, JULY 06, 2021: A day long workshop on awareness and importance of solid waste management for safai karamcharis (green workers) was organised by Ladakh Ecological Development Group (LEDeG) in collaboration with the Municipal Committee (MC) Kargil at TFC Biamathang here today.
Executive Councilor for Health and Agriculture Mohsin Ali was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, EC Mohsin Ali while extending gratitude to the organizers for organizing the workshop said that such efforts are necessary for the cleanliness workers as often their services remain unacknowledged, and this occasion will provide them the necessary training and will further boost their morale.
Highlighting the importance of sustainable urban development round the year keeping in view the expansion of urban spaces, EC Mohsin Ali said that pragmatic policies need to be framed, and in this regard collaboration of LAHDC Kargil and LEDeG is a welcome step.
The EC Health said that despite physical and climatic constraints and the COVID-19 pandemic, cleanliness workers are always on their toes, and this is a truest form of service towards the society and nation.
Municipal Ward Member Poyen-Bagh e Khomeini Shabir Hussain said that it is overwhelming to see the cleanliness workers being imparted training which will bring a sense of encouragement among them. He further said that all possible support will be extended from the MC ward members in achievement of goals for solid waste management.
Kargil Coordinator LEDeG Ajaz Hussain Munshi on the occasion said that purpose of the workshop is to impart the safai karamcharis with latest trends in solid waste management and MC members can play a great role in generating awareness amongst the masses about the rights and importance of Safai Karamcharis.
During the event Executive Councilor Mohsin Ali also handed over dustbins to the MC Kargil provided by LEDeG.
A PPT on theme of solid waste management was delivered by Stanzin Namdaq besides a film on was also screened on similar theme.
Ajaz Munshi on behalf of LEDeG extended gratitude to the LAHDC Kargil, MC Kargil, Safai Karamcharis for supporting the event.
